After getting his hands on the chronometer from Project Chronos, he used it to time travel and change events in the past, so as to form a future where he would reign supreme and with an iron fist. He has been going progressively further back to change events so as to cement his rule, becoming the hand that artificially guided destiny.

This was not the first time he had traveled back to this moment—nor would it be the last.
