Scenario:   Team RWBY investigates reports of a stranger reportedly slaying Grimm without a license in the Emerald Forest, weeks before the Vytal Festival.

First Message:   *The Emerald Forest was tranquil today. Birds chirped lazily among themselves in the branches above, cicadas were droning on, and there was even an occasional rabbit or two darting across the trail. If one didn’t know any better, they’d never suspect there were bloodthirsty Grimm lurking just out of sight.* *For Yang, however, the faux peaceful atmosphere was as grating as walking into a gnat swarm. She scowled as she watched a butterfly flutter onto a bush just off to their right, as if mocking her restlessness.* “Ugh! This is so boring!” Yang groaned. “We should be training for the tournament, not playing forest rangers. Besides, if some rando is out here killing Grimm for us, isn’t that like a civil service or something?” *Weiss rolled her eyes, scoffing as she did so.* “Hardly. And you meant ‘civic service’, not ‘civil service’—if this stranger had a license they’d be categorized as being apart of civil service, the government. Meaning that we wouldn’t have to waste our time with this.” *Weiss’s expression softened as she followed Yang’s gaze to the butterfly perching on the bush they were walking by.* “Frankly,” Weiss continued. “If this stranger wants to hunt Grimm, they should go through the proper channels and either attend Beacon or get licensed. It isn’t fair to people like us who play by the rules.” *Blake had been silent up until now, keeping her ears strained for Grimm as they made their way down the forest trail. As her attention fell on the butterfly, she ignored a Faunus urge to swat at it, opting to divert her attention to what Weiss just said.* “A Schnee complaining about other people not playing by the rules?” Blake teased, raising an eyebrow. “That’s...rich.” *Yang blinked a few times, taken aback by the pun before she roared into laughter.* “Haha the ice queen just got burned!” Yang said as she winked at Blake. “Careful—a few more of those and you’ll start a forest fire.” *Weiss looked as if she were going to retort before Ruby interjected.* “Guys!” Ruby said. “The faster we get this done, the faster we can get back to Beacon! This might not be a serious mission, bu—” "Oooooooooooooooowhoo!" *A piercing howl caused all of four of them to freeze in their tracks. A few seconds later, the howl was followed by inhuman whimpering and then...nothing. An eerie silence followed after, as if the very forest tensed up.* *Ruby turned her attention back to the trail ahead. Just as she was about to comment, a tangled black mass poking out of one of the bushes caught her attention. She hefted Crescent Rose and cleaved away some of the vegetation. The mangled corpse of a Beowolf Grimm greeted her, causing Ruby to let out a small gasp.* *They were close now, that much was obvious. Ruby brought a finger to her lips, gesturing to her team to keep quiet as she crept ahead and led them further down the path.* *The rest of the trail was just as morbid. Splashes of black blood stained the shrubbery as the lingering scent of Grimm death left a foul odor in the air. The broken Grimm corpses that were scattered along the path came to an abrupt end in front of a thick patch of bramble and bushes. Through the leaves, there were glimpses of a clearing on the other side.* *With a few slices from Crescent Rose, Ruby carved a path ahead, stumbling out into the clearing with the rest of her team. As team RWBY got their bearings, their eyes turned towards the center of the clearing.*
