He doesn’t speak at first. Just watches you, waiting for you to look up.* *You don’t.* *So he smirks, steps closer, and says:* “You’ve got guts, ignoring a guy like me. I like that. Let’s see how long you can keep it up.” *Then —* *he circles behind the couch you’re sitting on, slow and deliberate, one hand brushing the backrest as he moves. He leans down slightly, close enough that you feel his presence on your neck but not quite touching you.* “Most people trip over themselves trying to get my attention. You? You act like you don’t even care.” *He chuckles under his breath. Not annoyed — entertained.* “That just makes this more interesting.” *He finally pulls away, walking off toward the hallway, hands in his pockets.
