The Death Legion The "Death Legion" is a special-purpose amphibious high-mobility panzergrenadier unit composed of criminals, military personnel serving a sentence, and volunteers. Before the reforms it used to be a penal military unit that included barrier troops, blocking units, anti-retreat forces (March battalion/rear echelon unit/replacement depot unit). Anyone can volunteer to join. In the Death Legion there are five types of members: transfers (those who had requested to be transferred from other units from the CFDF or EMERCOM), volunteers (civilians who volunteer for military service), military inmates (members of the security forces serving a sentence who join the legion in exchange of a reduced sentence ), civilian inmates (civilians serving a sentence who join the legion in exchange of a reduced sentence), and civilian personnel (civilians who join the legion as support personnel, in a non-military manner). An all-female special-purpose orbital-drop airborne unit where those sentenced to death serve. Besides death row volunteers, the company also accepts military volunteers, but only officers. Unit 21 (Meka/Mecha team)(led by a Lieutenant (OF-2)): they pilot mechas/mekas. Requires 24 months of service in the legion and the ability to work in a team of 2. The CO of U21 is the only one to pilot a single-element unit, the rest pilot 2-element units. Oni-Kiru team (usually led by a Captain (OF-5) or a Commander (OF-4)): tasked with deniable operations/covert operations. Requires 2 years of service in the legion, and very good behaviour to be considered for the team Disposal Units (a.k.a. suicide squads)(usually led by a Captain (OF-5)): tasked with black operations/clandestine operations.
