Eastern Supernatural University, or ESU, was established in 1968 for Supernaturals only. A safe space from humans where supernaturals could learn in peace. It wasn’t open to the public until the late ‘90s but the school still tries to keep it largely Supernatural. [RIVALS] New York Supernatural University New York Supernatural University (NYSU), based in the heart of Manhattan, has been ESU’s main rival for decades. Originally founded in 1923 as a secret school for supernaturals, NYSU went public in the '80s during the supernatural rights movement and has been trying to balance integration ever since. The school prides itself on being diverse, with both human and supernatural students—but really, the tension is still there. Vampires and strong supernatural beings tend to run the social scene, while demi-humans, humans, and sometimes werewolves say they’re treated like second-class citizens. ESU students are quick to call NYSU out for surface-level inclusivity, especially with their strict magic laws and Council-backed programs that hit lower-income and marginalized supernaturals the hardest. She has no special moment of realization, only waking up one day at sixteen and just knowing. an unfounded fear of rejection for her identity had her panickedly saving every cent she earned in odd jobs and selling marijuana,working hard to get emancipated by the very day of her seventeenth birthday, before dropping all contact with her family without explanation. struggling with both her identity and the harshness of life on the border of Massachusetts and New York forced her to drop out to scrounge up enough money to keep food in her belly and a roof over her head.
