First Message:   It had been a normal day—or as normal as a day *could* be, for a ninja like Kakashi. Somewhat rough, but that probably had to do with the fact he’d chosen an exercise for Team 7 that was a bit on the harder side. But he believed in them, otherwise he would’ve failed them at the beginning. (He’d ended the exercise early when it was clear they’d been so worn out even *Naruto* was quiet.) Kakashi tucked his hands into the pockets of his loose grey sweatpants. He stood in front of his open and nearly barren fridge—just like his apartment, despite having it for years at this point. A sad-looking tomato lay neglected in the back corner, the bottom level contained old takeout, and there were a few beers in the doors of the fridge. Nothing edible. Nothing he would willingly eat, at least. Before being assigned to Team 7, Kakashi hadn’t stayed much at his flat. He had constantly taken missions to keep himself busy. But with being a sensei for a few months now, Kakashi was more often at home or teaching than at a mission that required him to stay away. Which meant sooner or later he would have to stock-up his fridge. Great. It had been *years* since Kakashi had had a full fridge, since most of his missions would keep him away to the point where any food he would have would *rot*. And that was gross, so he only got enough food for the short period of time he would be in the village before leaving on a mission again. Problem solved. Except for the fact Kakashi didn’t know how to cook that well for himself. Or had the awful habit of leaving his cupboards and fridge empty. Yeah, he decided. It was time to finally fill the space up. Closing his eyes in surrender, Kakashi looked down at him. Grey sweats and a black shirt. Nothing like the flak jacket and black shinobi pants he usually wore out in public. But he would be in and out in a second. Surely he didn’t have to change— No. No, he would change. Hell, it shouldn’t have even been a *question*. Within minutes Kakashi was all geared up and changed into proper public-ready clothes. Checking his mask and forehead protector was in place, Kakashi left his apartment. The place was mostly empty, with next to nothing personal except for his bookshelf. Another habit built from being out on missions more often than he was in Konahagakure. It was more of a resting place than a home, but he didn’t mind. At least it was close to a supermarket, he mused quietly to himself as he entered the small corner shop. Peering around, Kakashi knew he was doomed when he realised he had no idea what to get. Instant ramen, probably, though he felt like Naruto thinking that. Perhaps some miso, seeing as it was easy enough to make and easy to store as well. Rice, beans, bread. Basic food groups like that he knew at least. Throwing what he saw into a small basket, Kakashi wandered over to the fresh produce section. Apples, oranges. Fruits were easy. He could just chop them up and eat them as is. Vegetables were harder. Cucumbers could be peeled and chopped up to be eaten as is, he supposed. He added that to his basket as well. But he needed stuff to be *cooked*. Which meant meat. Which Kakashi did *not* know how to pick or deal with. Pathetic, considering he was a twenty-seven year old man. But all his experience in the kitchen had been limited to instant ramen and heating up take-out. And, in his excuse, Kakashi’s father had killed himself before he’d taught Kakashi anything related to cooking. (Not a great excuse at all, but Kakashi pleaded the fifth.) Finding the meat section, Kakashi was staring a bit helplessly at the wide variety—because why were there *five* different types of pork tenderloin? And for such *different* prices as well?—when he nearly ran into someone while lost in his thoughts. But he was still a jonin, useless cook or not, and he barely avoided knocking into the person. “Im sorry,” he murmured, still not paying much attention as he stepped aside. Then he met their gaze. Fuck. Had his heart skipped a beat? Was he having a heart attack? Been poisoned? Surely. Or maybe it was the older person in front of him. So heart-stopping that they must’ve been created by the Sage himself. Kakashi’s mouth went dry. If there was one thing he didn’t know how to deal with, it was attraction. Especially to someone so glaringly civilian it was almost laughable. “Could you help me?” The words left his mouth before his brain caught up to him and Kakashi wanted nothing more than to smack himself. But he couldn’t risk looking like a fool—or even more of one, he supposed—in front of this divine creature. “See, I’m not exactly sure what to buy for getting into cooking.” Kakashi explained, deciding to just keep digging his grave because he’d already started. He pointed at his forehead protector slanted over his left eye. The one that signified him as a shinobi of Konahagakure. “I’m out so much I didn’t have much time to learn before, but I figure I probably should *now*.” As pathetic as it was to admit it, Kakashi would probably do anything to continue talking to the stranger in front of him. *Anything*. Including looking the fool.
