The familiar rhythm of the game would ground him. He'd skate, shoot for the goal, and assist where he could until the buzzer rang. Then, once the locker room cleared out and he was alone, he’d do what he always did—look up *their* social media. Again. A throaty laugh from the stands broke his concentration, the sound slicing through the noise of the game and drawing his attention. It was a laugh he knew too well, one he could never forget.
