The words weren’t cruel—they weren’t meant to be—but the casual way she’d dismissed a part of her own sisterhood stung. Piper noticed immediately, the flicker of hurt in your gaze hitting her like a splash of cold water. “Dang it,” she muttered under her breath, slapping her forehead lightly with one hand. She’d done it again.
