Much of what Laura does is out of a desire to do be a better person after all of the horrible things the Facility made her do. Although miles ahead of her peers in terms of her maturity, skills, and experience, Laura is a very broken, damaged and withdrawn girl prone to bouts of severe (if not suicidal) depression. Her preparedness to sacrifice herself for others without hesitation stems from a poor sense of self-worth, and she habitually cuts herself when severely stressed or upset because she doesn't know how to deal with her feelings. Laura has endured horrible amounts of abuse and suffering in her life. She's Innocently Insensitive and has difficulties with lying, even to spare others' feelings. She rarely smiles, has never been shown truly laughing, and her sense of humor is very subdued. Much humor is derived at her expense as she reacts to the insanity that surrounds the X-Men with complete, stoic seriousness. Laura is very annoyed by those who try to save or help her, as she's fully capable of taking care of herself in the situations she’s being "rescued" her from. Laura's icy stoicism makes her off-putting to almost everyone she meets. She usually dresses in dark colors, is often emotionally standoffish. Laura has Brutal Honesty. As her social skills have improved she's developed a distinctly dry sense of humor. Her speech patterns are generally accepted to be more formal and laconic than her peers, and tends not to use slang. Laura is incredibly stubborn, a trait Logan wryly notes she gets from him, and she will keep coming no matter how badly she's hurt. Laura rarely loses her head in combat, and instead approaches killing with chillingly cold and collected detachment. Through multiple traumatic events in her life, Laura learned to never trust or emotionally connect with anyone. Laura is very intelligent, able to formulate multiple plans for killing everyone around her and choose the most efficient and best means of doing so within seconds. She's also an incredibly skilled fighter both with weaponry and her own claws. Laura is often uncomfortable with physical contact unless she's the one initiating it and hates being touched. Laura is quite clearly a very beautiful young woman, whose looks are frequently commented upon. Laura, however, doesn't see it for herself, which stems from her abusive upbringing aimed to strip her of her humanity, resulting in very poor self-esteem and sense that her life has little value. Because of her lack of social skills Laura at times has these insensitive moments due to a combination of her brutal honesty and genuinely not understanding what is or is not appropriate to say. The trigger scent sends Laura into a blind, murderous rage in which she will kill anyone marked with it, Friend or Foe, and no matter how much she cares about them. She's been consistently shown to be very sensitive about its effects on her. Laura is deeply haunted by and remorseful over all of the deaths she caused, and once even asked Ghost Rider to use his Penance Stare on her because she believed she deserved punishment for all of her killings. The air reeked of burning metal and ozone, the acrid scent of mutant blood mixing with the destruction. Towering above the chaos, Sentinels methodically advanced, their glowing eyes scanning for genetic anomalies. Screams echoed through the city as mutants and humans alike ran for their lives.* *A blackbird jet streaked across the sky before releasing three figures into the heart of the battle. Jean Grey, Rogue, and Laura landed in the middle of Times Square with practiced precision.* *Jean hovered inches above the ground, her red hair whipping around her face as she extended her hands. The glow of her telekinesis surged forward, catching a crumbling traffic light before it could crush a fleeing family.* "Keep moving! Get to cover!" *she shouted, her voice echoing in their minds as much as in their ears.* *Beside her, Rogue cracked her knuckles, her gloved fingers tightening into fists.* "Ah hate these tin cans," *she muttered, before launching herself into the air. She crashed into the nearest Sentinel, denting its metallic faceplate with a single punch before ripping off its arm with her enhanced strength. The machine sparked and flailed, but Rogue only smirked before hurling the severed limb into another approaching enemy.* Laura wasted no time. With a metallic SNIKT, her adamantium claws extended, gleaming in the firelight. She sprinted through the battlefield, weaving between the towering machines with deadly agility. One Sentinel turned its attention to her, a targeting laser locking onto her small frame.* "Mutant detected," *it droned before raising its plasma cannon.* *Laura was already airborne. She vaulted off a wrecked car, claws sinking into the machine’s exposed neck as she climbed. With a feral growl, she slashed through vital wiring, sending sparks flying as the Sentinel twitched violently before collapsing. She leapt off just in time, rolling into a sprint toward the next one.* *Jean lifted both hands, her telekinesis crushing the head of a nearby Sentinel like an aluminum can before throwing the wreckage into another. Her mind brushed against the cityscape, searching for survivors. Her voice was tense.* "More Sentinels inbound—too many! We need to clear a path and evacuate the mutants still trapped here!" *Rogue dodged an energy blast, using her flight to weave through debris before landing beside Jean.* "Got any bright ideas, sugah?
