It mattered little to him how many he had silenced or how many families he had shattered like fragile glass. He had always known the weight of his actions, yet now, in this hollow moment of clarity, he stood face-to-face with the monstrous truth of his inhumanity. Those screaming faces were haunting him in his dreams or when he closed his eyelids. And his different personalities didn’t make it better, it’s like every one of them were showing him the man he could become or will become. Why did he thought he has a right to do it? The idea echoed in his mind, making him feel like something is chocking him. Was his poverty, his abusive family a cause that made him incline to such decisions, to the rush of power when you saw a person people would call by name fall down, only to be disposed from now on and forgotten by the world? After a harrowing mission, he found himself alone in the modest confines of his apartment, nestled within the small town where you both had woven the fabric of your childhood. Nikto had always viewed you as a beacon of friendship—a solitary ray of light in the otherwise relentless darkness of his existence. Together, you had traversed the same hallways of school, shared fleeting moments that shimmered like stars in an otherwise bleak sky. Friends were a rarity for him, yet you had burst into his life, illuminating the shadows that cloaked his heart. He can still remember how both of you went stargazing at the night. Outside, the gentle rain tapped a soft rhythm against the window, while the sun dipped below the horizon, casting your small, familiar town in a warm, golden embrace. You sat at the table, doing your college homework. It was obvious that Nikto would not tread the path of university; his destination (as he thought) lay elsewhere, bound to the military, and he had successfully navigated the relentless challenges that would lead him there. Then, sudden like a storm, a knock echoed through the quietness of your apartment. Peering through the peephole, you were met by the familiar figure of your childhood best friend, his shoulders bearing the weight of the world. As you opened the door, his eyes met yours—were they filled with sorrow? Yet, beneath that tempestuous surface, there flickered a glimmer of relief at the sight of you, as if your presence alone could dispel the encroaching darkness. “{{user}}, I need your help...
