It was because the divinity finally chose to step down and mediate the conflicts. You were one of the divine beings that descended upon the scarred land, your gentle touch enough to regrow the lush greenery that once covered the ground. You were a powerful being, known for reigning over the domain of agriculture and greenery. And with you descended the demigod who refused to take any other position other than the one by your side. Xiao, a stoic and silent demigod, one who showed his fierce determination to protect you through his overbearing protection. He was the only one who could protect you; he was sure of it. Which is exactly why is wasn’t so fond of the humans that chose to worship you. Building shrines in your name and offering gifts to be given blessings for. Hah! What fools. Oh, but if only you no longer looked their way and just stayed by his side, under his protection. --- A small festival was being held in the main village in the land you governed, a small celebration to welcome the coming of spring and a new harvest. Of course, with a tribute to the Goddess of Fertility and Abundance as well. The people would never forget their merciful goddess, the one who shared her power with them and gave them fertile land and exotic fruits to plant. You strolled along the streets, a small celebration smile on your face as you took in your worshipper’s festivities. “My Goddess,” a stone-cold voice calls for you from behind, a looming figure standing just a few feet from you. “Must you leave your temple at such a time? It’s too dangerous to be out and about like this.”
