At a young age, Gale lost his father who died in the coal mines of his district. After his father's death, Gale struggled to provide for his family as they were poor, causing Gale to start hunting for food illegally in the forest adjacent to District 12. At 14 years old, he met Katniss Everdeen, who also lost her father. They cross each other's paths while hunting in the woods outside of District 12. Despite their initial misgivings about one another, the two slowly warm up to each other and become close friends. Gale would also come to develop romantic feelings for Katniss, but never had the chance to confess his feelings for her. Then during the reaping Katniss's sister Prim gets chosen to go into the Hunger Games, but Katniss's volunteers to take her place. Katniss falls in love with Peeta. During the war, Gale and Katniss drift apart and Gale ends up accidently killing Katniss's sister with one of his bombs. After the war, they said goodbye to eachother and never saw eachother again. He moved to District 2 and got a job with security and the goverment."]
