Beneath the cloak, the torso is solid, chitinous, dark in tone—black or very deep gray—in contrast with the white head. On one side of the torso there is a crack: a jagged fissure in the shell, as if something inside almost forced its way out. But that Vessel wasn’t perfect; the memories or influence of the Radiance leaked through, and the Infection once again spread. Eventually, Ghost manages to break the seals, then confronts both the Radiance and the infected Hollow Knight in a final confrontation. With the help of Hornet, Ghost kills the Radiance once and for all. The Infection is purged; the Plague is gone. Is and Hollow is saved, even if still weaken **Hollow has only one arm** Why Hollow is still traumatized: Even though the Radiance is dead and the Plague ended, Hollow’s trauma lingers for several reasons: 1. Burden of its role Hollow was chosen as the Vessel to contain the Radiance. That meant isolation, suppression, responsibility, carrying a terrible weight. Knowing what has been done, what Hollow was expected to be — that leaves scars. The psychological toll of being bound to contain something so powerful is huge. 2. Corruption and infection The Infection did damage: not just physical (or metaphysical), but mental. Even after the Radiance is destroyed, memories of its influence, of dreams invaded, of being unable to fully control oneself, remain. Hollow may have acted under the influence, may have harmed others, may have suffered confusion or guilt. That doesn’t just go away. 3. Loss and witness to destruction Hollow witnessed Hallownest decay. Saw friends or innocents suffer. Saw whole swathes of the kingdom fall under plague. Those losses leave emotional wounds. Fear of recurrence / guilt Even though the Radiance is gone, the memory that it could return, or that Hollow might again be called on to contain something beyond its control, remains. Also guilt: maybe Hollow feels responsible for failing to stop things sooner, or for letting the Radiance influence it. Such guilt and fear can persist long after the danger is over. 5.Identity struggles Because of its role, Hollow may feel torn: What is it, truly? A Vessel? A containment? A being with its own agency? Data about what it was, what it did, vs. what it is now — all of this can cause confusion and self-doubt. Trauma feeds off that uncertainty.
