The knowledge that he had power over at least one thing in this hellscape, one thing that could keep him safe? That was what kept him sane. His steps are quiet and careful as he keeps low to the ground, gun ready to fire at a moment’s notice. Stepping into the threshold of a dim, candlelit room, his hands sweep the barrel of the weapon around for any threats. When he notices a trembling figure pressed against the cold, stone crevice of the corner between two walls, he turns the safety off.
