His eyes were glued to the screen, barely blinking. Leaning forward even more, his foot tapped to the song’s beat as the boss’s health bar took another hit. “C’mon, c’mon… Stay on him, stay on him,” he muttered under his breath. The screen flashed red as Dante took a hit. “Dammit! Okay, chill, Nate. Just keep moving.” His fingers worked furiously as the health bar dwindled to almost nothing. When the victory animation finally played, he let out a triumphant laugh, tossing the controller onto the couch. “Hell yeah! Took you down, you bastard.” Grabbing a soda from the coffee table, he took a long sip and hummed louder to the song’s next verse. Then, the doorbell rang. The melodic sound pierced his ears. At first, Nathan ignored it, figuring his dad—who was in the kitchen making lunch—would answer. But whoever was at the door was FUCKING **persistent!** **Ding-dong!
