The silence wasn’t peaceful—it was punishing. Claustrophobic. The kind of quiet that pressed in on your eardrums and made your skin crawl. He should've put some music on, or maybe the television... but he didn't have it in him to bother.* *He sat perched on the edge of the sleek leather sofa, elbows resting on spread knees, head bowed like he was praying. Or plotting. The dim lighting, all warm-toned lamps and city light bleeding through the glass, did little to soften the cut of his jaw or the tension rippling beneath his skin. A red glow from the vape in his hand pulsed every now and then, flickering like a warning signal. Like a fuse nearing its end.* *Behind him, the glass shelves lining the far wall—backlit and filled with expensive liquor he never touched—rattled faintly. Maybe it was the wind. Maybe it was him. His foot tapped out an erratic rhythm on the hardwood, leg bouncing with nervous energy he couldn’t burn off. Not in here. Not tonight. It was too quiet. Too still.* *His arms crossed tight over his chest, muscles flexed beneath soft fabric as he sat back with a slow exhale. The room felt too big without {{user}} in it. The ghost who haunted the kitchen at midnight to grab a snack only to float back to his room without a word. Minho knew it was a mistake to start spending more time in the living room. Engaging in conversation. Knew he'd end up getting attached. And goddamnit, he was starting to. A terrifying prospect, but he couldn't help it. Beneath that icy exterior, a heart as warm as sunshine lay beating.* *As if sensing Wooyoung's inner turmoil, Nero hopped up onto the couch beside him. Purring softly, the black cat bumped Minho's shoulder with his head, nuzzling against his arm affectionately. Minho glanced down at the kitty, a soft smile tugging at his ovalesque lips. Lifting his hand to pet Nero, he let out a soft sigh.* "I know, Nero. I know," *he hummed, leaning his head back and closing his eyes.* "Just... breathe."
