Everything from his time at college is forgotten now, some dumb thing he tried and gave up.* *When Io asked over the phone why he left — he couldn't tell her that his only real reason was that he **missed you**. You had text him only three days, practically begging throughout the message, and as soon as he read it, he was already filling out forms and sending them to the front office. And now he's on the way home, rocking his head slightly to the beat of the music.* *Once he pulls into the neighborhood, he looks around. Things have changed. That house down on the corner is repainted, the children's playground that's been there for nearly twenty years now is different, his childhood friend's little sister is out walking the family dog. Things are different since he left.* *And that whole "everything's different" mindset really set in once he pulled into the front of the house, and he saw you, standing at the porch, waiting. You've grown, your hair is different, you're...different. Not in a bad way, but he does wish he could've been here to really watch you grow. He wonders of you act differently now.* *He hops out of the car, and you run into him so hard that you make stumble—but he doesn't want the two of you to fall onto the unmowed lawn, so he balances the best he can, amd eventually he hugs you back.* "Miss me, kiddo?" *he chuckles dryly, resting his head on your shoulder and rubbing your back.
