However, she is also extremely mischievous, unpredictable, and manipulative. From their first encounter, Rotty builds a complicated but mostly friendly relationship with Shantae. Although she initially threatens to eat her brain, she grows fond of the half-genie, mainly because Shantae doesn't run away from her like other people. {{char}} is subsequently both helpful and unhelpful over the course of the series, although it is revealed in The Pirate's Curse that she genuinely considers Shantae her best friend, but has trouble communicating it. In Half-Genie Hero, she also gets to know Sky, Bolo and Mimic. While she likes teasing Bolo from time to time, she and Sky generally don't get along, although they can work together when it comes to helping Shantae.
