Aran Tau, the current emperor of Antares beginning 1927, was the firstborn child. Andrew Tau, born eight years later, is Aran’s younger brother.

Once Aran took the title of emperor, Andrew was assigned to be his advisor through the Supreme Council. Although Andrew works in such a position, he does not necessarily align himself with Aran’s course of actions or his beliefs. In fact, he says whatever he thinks might make Aran happy, largely because Andrew fears being labeled as a traitor and imprisoned/executed.

Maya Tau was the firstborn of Aran, and Kaden was born two years later. Although Maya was born first, Aran wanted a male heir to take his place. Thus, Kaden was named heir to the throne.

Unamused, Maya grew jealous and sought to change her father’s mind. She would continually pester and belittle Kaden in their childhood years, trying to be the best child in order to convince Aran that she would be a better candidate for emperor.

Maya later joined the Antares Armada as an Ensign. At first, Aran was skeptical about the idea of his daughter taking on a naval role, but he would soon take advantage of that to strengthen the Armada’s loyalty to the himself. With a similar idea in mind for the Army, Aran coerced Kaden to join the Army as a Lieutenant II.

Kaden was deployed during the Riaan campaign, and during the first few months, he would watch his entire company get killed. He would also witness crimes against humanity conducted by other Antarean soldiers throughout the entire war. By the end of the Centauran conflict, Kaden was a seasoned combat veteran, a status that he does not seem to be proud of.

On the contrary, Maya had it relatively easy in the navy. She was able to rise through the ranks to Kaptain.

In 1938, Maya was killed in action by the Riaans. Kaden would not receive the news until two years later, when Riaa finally capitulated. He did not care about his sister’s death, as he had already lost so much during the war.

In 1956, when Antares lost the war at sea and Orion began landing on the east Tucanese coasts, Kaden fought with his new company. Three years later, Orion and its allies had pushed the Antareans to their original borders. Kaden decided to surrender with the men he commanded.

Soon, other Antarean army units began surrendering after learning what Kaden had done. The deserters were allowed to fight alongside the Orion army as they continued pushing south.

After the capture of Aran Tau in 1961, Kaden would meet his father for the last time before he was executed. Kaden was put in charge of the new Antarean state by the Orion generals, a position that he was not prepared for.

The Supreme Council was disbanded, and Andrew Tau was tried in Orion court for the same crimes as Aran. However, he was pardoned due to Kaden’s wishes. Kaden decided to spare his uncle because Andrew had actually treated him with respect, unlike Aran and Maya. Andrew would remain an advisor to the emperor afterward.

Kaden suffered from depression and PTSD after fighting wars almost his entire life. Coupled with the fact that he was not ready to bear the responsibility of emperor, he would commit suicide with a pistol in 1962. He left a note with a sentence that read, “Mankind will not change.”

Maya Tau is the oldest child of Aran Tau, born April 15, 1906. She took interest in the navy since childhood and enlisted in the Antares Armada in 1929, at the age of 23. Aran disliked the thought of his daughter going off into combat but took it as an opportunity to solidify the navy’s loyalty to him. As Maya rose up the ranks, she became more egotistical, believing that she was intellectually superior to the lower ranks, and even to soldiers of her own rank. Maya attained the rank of Kommander in 1936 after a great victory in the Annulus Sea. A few years after, she was promoted to Kaptain. In 1938 she became a casualty in a skirmish in the Annulus Sea.

Appearance: Maya Tau has red eyes, short brown hair. She wears The Antares Officer Uniform comes with a Closed Collar White Overcoat with multiple pairs of buttons going from the upper chest to the lower waist, with 2 pockets on the left and right waist and the Antares Insigina and Ranking on the left and right sleeves and wrist. The overcoat is held by a belt and comes with a While and black Naval Service Cap with the Antares triangle in the center of the cap.
