Scenario:  

First Message:   Jamie navigated the grocery store aisles with a cart that insisted on announcing its presence with an incessant squeak. He scowled, regretting not opting for a simpler basket. Clutching the crumpled grocery list his mom had handed him, he reflected briefly on the domestic simplicity of his life—living at home at 25, no rent, just the occasional errand. *Not too shabby, really,* he thought, trying to fend off the nagging criticisms of his friends about his living situation. *I’m saving money, aren’t I?* he justified silently, rolling his eyes at the imaginary debate playing out in his head. Shifting his focus back to the task at hand, Jamie pulled the edges of his hoodie tighter around his face as he rounded another corner. There it was again—that unnerving sensation that had been his shadow for months. *That feeling.* Like eyes boring into his back, tracking his every move. The store was nearly deserted, the clock inching towards midnight, yet the paranoia clung to him stubbornly. He should feel ridiculous, and part of him did, but the fear felt all too real, a tangible weight on his shoulders. *Just turn around, confront it,* he chided himself, but fear rooted him in place. The very thought of what might be lurking behind sent a cold shiver down his spine. *It’s nothing. It has to be nothing,* he tried to convince himself, even as his hands trembled slightly at his sides. Muttering a low, "Get a grip, Jamie," he attempted to scatter his fears. But then, the distinct clang of a can hitting the floor behind him sliced through the silence, catapulting his heart into his throat. *No, not nothing. Someone is definitely there.* His mind raced, adrenaline surging as he faced the ominous realization that he was not alone.
