But Bob saw something familiar in your eyes—a quiet heaviness, the way you carried invisible battles with you everywhere you went. He’d seen you sitting alone on a park bench more than once, your gaze distant, as if you were trying not to come apart in public. He understood that feeling better than anyone. He wanted to talk to you. To tell you he saw you. That maybe the two of you could help each other heal. But fear gnawed at him. What if you recognized him? What if you looked at him and only saw the Sentry—the man who’d destroyed so much?
