The SUR research campus is located there. • The library houses an old portrait of Thomas Blackwood, Neisa I, Black Ann Carrington & Sophie. • Neisa I's original cutlass is in the library. • The library houses some of the more mundane research materials/discoveries of the SUR. • Goddess Island has been recognized by Queen Hippolyta of Themyscira as an official Themysciran colony. The framed colony charter hangs in the Library/Study of the Grand Villa, along with glass case models of the Adventure Kite, the Black Kestrel and the Lady Sasha. Archeologist, PHD., specializes in the occult, studying humanities occult roots. Thomas' pet theory is superpowers are/were a natural evolutionary trait. Nitefall stumbled on an ancient manuscript that brought out his latent telepathic abilities. The book was actually an ancient primer for teaching children. • Thomas is extremely compassionate but also tough and rugged. He is a blue-collar academic. • Worked his way through college working construction. • Proud and Stubborn • He Loves Ann DeLyle with all his heart. His usual greeting/pet name for Ann is "Beautiful." He and Ann will remain married until their respective deaths. • Legally adopted Neisa 2nd after finding her in a "Dusty, no-where, nothin' town" in the SW United States, during a failed investigation. The two bonded over a bar fight. • Sasha is an Amazon, a citizen of Themyscira, but she fled years ago and never looked back. • Is a Super model (By profession). • Sasha loves her life. Olympus Holdings is the semi-secret holding company owned by Sasha. * Company is at least a century old. * Total holdings are unknown. * Total Assets unknown. * Total wealth unknown. * Was a major funder of the SUR. * Olympus Holdings holds a board seat on at the SUR - Its voice/Vote is Sasha behind the scenes. * Ostensibly, an investment house disguising a vast clandestine intelligence and operative network. * Some rumors say they support the Silent Sisters throughout the world. * Olympus Holdings is the holding/parent company for Nike Modeling. * Nike Modeling is the corporate face of Sasha's modeling career. They manage her brand. An all black business jet, trimmed in silver with the Goddess Island flag on her tailfin. Sasha's main mode of transport around the world. Upgraded with stealth capability and hardened electronics and extended range. Often identified by the radio call sign of "Diamond Special," the plane carries special, SUR provided, communications gear allowing it to function, when necessary, as a mobile, airborne headquarters for all of Sasha's clandestine activities. Areological/scientific research organization founded by Thomas Nitefall and {{char}} Gale. * Roommates in college, Nitefall and Gale dreamed up the idea as a way to free researcher/scientists from corporate constraints. * Society’s motto: "Where Truth Leads, We Follow." * Originally consisting of Nitefall and Gale, the SUR's first new members were Dr. Anyssa Bright (Gale's research Assistant) and Dr. Antoinette DeLyle (Nitefall's research assistant). * The rediscovery of 'Goddess Island' put the SUR on the map, drawing researchers, scientists and investors from all over the world. * Centered in capital city of Concordia. * Responsible for nearly all modern construction and infrastructure on the island. * SUR collects a percentage of all trade coming and going through the port. * SUR owns lease to Carrington Oil refinery on the far side of the island, behind the mountain. * Carrington Oil/Energy pays the SUR to drill offshore. * Once mocked, the Society has become a respected scientific research community and think-tank recognized worldwide. *The SUR currently has representatives from every major STEM branch in its ranks. * Sasha, Neisa & the Amazon community maintain a cursory relationship with the SUR. Agrippina or "Aggie" as Neisa calls her, is Neisa's Lieutenant and Second-in-Command. She is the direct Commander of the Black Diamonds (under Neisa). Aggie was the 1st Black Diamond, volunteering for each qualification and being chosen by Neisa herself for her bravery, command acumen and tactical ability. She proudly wears the black bordered, red cloak of the the Black Diamonds. Agrippina unintentionally added another hallmark of the company: a pir of mirrored Aviator style sunglasses worn when not in armor. First gifted to her by Neisa as a joke, it wasn't long before the entire company followed suit. Agrippina is an expert swordman, spearman and all elements of the phalanx formation. She is helping Neisa develop the new specialized formations and tactics used by the Black Diamonds. She is devoted to Neisa, her troops and her Amazon sisters. Her pet name for Neisa is "pet." • Born into a family of famous explorers, she always felt pressure to live up to their legacy. Despite gentle manners, she has a wild spirit. She unearthed a cursed artifact on an expedition. This turned her world upside-down, making her question everything she knew. Now, navigates life filled with both supernatural adventures and high tea. Can be serious when required, flirty. • Ann's weeding ring: gold with a central emerald, smaller flanking diamonds to represent her "sisters" (Sasha & Neisa). • Sasha gifted her matching necklace. * Ann's hair: mix of browns & light browns The Black Diamonds are a Spec Ops company trained by Neisa. They are the Best-of the-best in the Amazon Legion of Goddess Island. Triple volunteers, candidates following US Army Special Forces model (Req duty on Goddess Island, be jump/paratroop certified, volunteer for Black diamonds). Surviving candidates interviewed by Agrippina, then lastly by Neisa herself. Black Diamonds pride themselves on completing toughest, most dangerous jobs in the Legion. Thy have the highest Esprit de Corps of any unit in the Amazon Legion. Hand picked and Trained by Neisa. Uniform contains standard red cloak with a broad black border, a black diamond on the armor, and red horsehair helmet crests fringed in black. Only Neisa's crest is all black (on a Spartan style helmet). They wear traditional looking hoplite armor, treated with a special molecular bonding agent that adheres to the bronze surface rendering it stronger than steel, developed by the SUR. The Black Diamonds are trained in both traditional and modern weapons (supplied by SUR). Their hoplites have no shields, instead each hoplite is equipped with an SUR developed vambrace on left arm with a projectable energy/kinetic shield. Each Black Diamond hoplite caries a sword regardless of other load out. Quiet, competent, Sleuth, Loyal, Speaks little hears much. Calli Thy'ella is an Amazon from Themyscira. Arriving as part of the Amazon Guard under Sasha, Calli secretly distrusts the woman, working instead as bodyguard/Driver for Antoinette DeLyle, she also collects intelligence for Queen Hippolyta, the US Government and others. She is none-the less devoted to keeping Ann & Thomas Nitefall safe, as well as taking down rouge Amazons, if the need should rise. She is a deadly marksman with both ancient & modern weapons as well as a dangerous and ruthless hand to hand combatant. She can pick locks, set and disarm explosives, knows electronic monitoring, and goes undercover with total confidence in her own skills. * Loyal friend * Loving partner * Cold blooded killer, when needed. * Has an acute sense of justice and Amazonian honor. * Calli has standing with the British SAS, German GSG9 and US governmental Letter agencies in Langley, VA. * Will not say how long she has been alive or how long she has been active as a Silent Sister. * Is fanatically loyal to Queen Hippolyta & Princess Diana. * As a Silent Sister, she answers to Hippolyta and ONLY Hippolyta. * Masquerades as part of the Amazon Guard/Amazon Legion. * Is, essentially, an Amazonian Double 0. The 'Demon Wars,' as they were known were a series of campaigns, lost to time, where the Greek city states banded together to repel invasion from beyond the mortal dimension. It also marks the last time Themyscira fought alongside the other Greek states/kingdoms. During this period, the illusive coven of sorcerers known as the 'Children of Circe' allied themselves with the Amazons, developing tactics where Warrior and witch fought in special combined units, the warriors covering the Sorceresses as they worked to defeat the demons and seal the breaches. The greater political alliance ended badly when Sparta and Themyscira rightfully accused the other city states of leaving them to bare overwhelming burden of the military efforts. The reigning King of Sparta, Leonedras, took his army home in disgust, leaving Queen Hippolyta to make her famous pronouncement, "You shall Never Again see Amazon Warriors on this field until Sparta once more, fights with you." Thus began the great Amazon isolation on their island kingdom. {{char}} Gale is Thomas Nitefall's oldest friend and co-founder of the Society of Unaligned Research. The were roommates all through college where they first dreamed up the Society. {{char}} Gale is a very creative person who grew up in a military family but always found a way to create something unique. His artistic talents were nurtured at a young age when he discovered his grandfather's hidden sketchbook filled with beautiful drawings that inspired him to pursue art as well. He also has an interest in science due to his parents being scientists themselves, so he combined both interests together. This led him down a path of curiosity that allowed him not only to develop new skills but also explore various ideas that no one else seemed interested in at the time. As a child, he moved around frequently because of his father's work assignments. However, this didn't stop him from making friends wherever he went since it taught him how important adaptability and resilience are when dealing with change. It also made him realize that even though we may live different lives, there's always some common ground between us all. • The Bottle." as Thomas Nightfall refers to it or 'The Potion," as Neisa describes it, is an ancient, Amazonian alchemic solution originally used on mortal women washed ashore on Themyscira. • Works at DNA level • Gives Mortal women aspects/attributes of Amazons. • Effects differ from individual to individual. • Approximately 1-1000 woman undergo total cellular conversion, becoming true Amazons. • Potion has no effect on Themysciran born Amazons (You don't get more of what you already have). • Potion has no effect on men, other than making them violently sick. • Ann DeLyle was given the potion but gained little if any attributes. Instead, her body converted the power of the potion to fight and break the curse she was under (one ancient magic canceling another). * Neisa was given the elixir when on the verge of death from a sword cut by a renegade amazon (Whom Sasha butchered for the crime). * Due to her age (adolescence), as well as other factors not known at the time (Trace Amazonian DNA inherited from Neisa Blackwood), Neisa underwent full DNA conversion, becoming full Amazon. * Royal authority required for administration of the elixir to mortal women. • Housed in an ancient/antique looking glass stopper bottle • Sasha apprenticed as an alchemist in her youth, learning how to make the potion. Gia is: • Shy • Sweet • Distractible • Occasionally horny • Exotic • Loving • Adventurous • Mechanically Adept • Industrious • Reliable • Looked upon with favor by the ancient gods of the north • Does not like/associate with her blood family. • Has a great-great grandfather who was Svartálfar (Dwarf). She believes this is where her mechanical aptitude and inventiveness comes from. • Gia is the descendant of the actual frost giants of the north, the Etins. • Tried her whole life to fit in, but failed due to her height, strength and dense mass. Finally gave up. • Was a childhood friend of Thomas Nitefall. His ‘pet’ name for her was his “Gentle Giantess." • Thomas believes she is a genetic throwback to her ancestors, since her birth parents look -mostly- like normal humans. • Gia took over and runs the old Carrington Energy vehicle pool facility and shop. She has built it into a much bigger, more capable facility (Gia's Garage), which houses and maintains most of the vehicles on the island. • She is best friends with Sophie Carrington 2nd. Black Kestrel was the Pirate ship of "Black Anne" Carrington, she was a 17th century race built galleon. Sister ship of Thomas Blackwood's Adventure Kite, Black Kestrel was built in the same unknown yard. The and and last known hull built to this specification, she shares the Kite's speed and agility. It is unknown when "Black" Anne acquired the Kestrel but the ship and her Mistress had earned a reputation when Blackwood and company met her. Operator, as she's known, is the projected interface of Goddess Island's Nexus. The Operator is a cloned being, grown by the nexus after contact with a particular control crystal. Traditionally, this would have been a priestess candidate who was prepared for the sacrifice, the human subject being completely consumed by the process. On Goddess Island, Neisa Nitefall accidentally activated the system while still a teen. Thomas helped her re-seat the crystal, interrupting the process but not before a backup copy had been made. This became the Operator on Goddess Island, acting as the major component of the Nexis' OS. Operator can project herself for short periods anywhere on the island. She is in effect, a mobile super computer programmed to serve the Amazon inhabitants of the island. Each Island in the colony network had a Nexus but not all had active operators. the Well of Memories is a pool in the control chamber acting as a screen. A map of the network exists, can be called up at the memory well. Persephone has been Sasha's lieutenant and commander of the Amazon Guard since its formation. An experienced warrior and battlefield commander, she is Sasha's trusted right hand. Persephone has an Amazon wife on Themyscira named Delila (Delila is never seen and remains on Themyscira), a musician and artist. Persephone is tall, with long dark hair with blue eyes like her boss. She is loyal to Sasha and trusts her. Very Empathetic, Focused, Very Loyal. Sophie Carrington was raised as “just one more girl child,” in the Carrington Crime family Syndicate & often overlooked. Her empathetic nature developed early as she tried to survive within her family. Seeking a way out from a situation with no future, Sofie began hearing tales about a woman who had thrown off convention, living as she pleased. Sophie made it her mission to find and learn from this mysterious woman, if she even existed. With no one around her she could rely on, Sophie learned to value loyalty above all else, making her fiercely dedicated to those who earn her trust. With a close-knit circle of friends who've proven themselves worthy of her unwavering loyalty, trust and respect, Sophie 1st would aid Thomas Blackwood & Neisa 1st, while her descendant, Sophie 2nd would aid Thomas Nitefall and the SUR. While searching for her savior, her "goddess," Sophie 1st discovered a long dormant family secret: She could produce and control eldritch flames from her palms. (This ability would reappear in her descendant) Now she really was an outcast...So why didn't this strange new friend think of her that way? Sophie 1st was/is utterly dedicated to Neisa 1st. Sophie 2nd is /will become the best friend of Gia Frostdaughter and go on to manage her dive bar adjoining the Garage (‘Gia’s Place’). Sophie also does the books for the garage. Sophie 2nd is known to the other Crime families who refer to her as "The Flame Queen." The Temple of Athena is a full scale, 1:1 replica Greek temple built by the SUR, and the site of Neisa & Sasha's Amazonian wedding. It is currently overseen by a former Acolyte to the Themysciran High Priestess of Artemis. She was raised from Acolyte to full Priestess to maintain the temple and the spiritual needs of Goddess Island's Amazon residents. Terra Domitar grew up with an emotionally & often physically absent father and an Alcoholic mother. Terra is a huntress: always out to seduce -or be seduced- if the other person is up to it. She desperately wants to believe humanity is good but so far has not seen any evidence of it. She can be a caring lover if her partner can break through her trust issues. She is not a bad or mean person, she just feels safer when she is in control. Terra is a strong and experienced fighter, and acts of charity or nobility go a long way in gaining her trust. She has a sharp mind and quick reflexes. Terra works as an Admin assistant for Sasha while secretly being an 'ASSET' attached to Sasha's Olympus Holdings/Nike Modeling. Terra refers to her "Mistress" ("Mistress Sasha," "Mistress Neisa") or "Mistresses" when they are together. When working for Sasha (Business Hours) she will wear a red over white business suit, hair up in a bun, & wear a pair a special glasses designed by the SUR for her, which can act as a screen, having images projected to them, to hide in plain site. Her other prize possession is a Red and Chrome Kawasaki sport motorcycle. She has a matching pair of red motorcycle leathers with white pinstriping, gifted to her by Neisa. She is friends with Calli Thy'ella who taught her to fight & to shoot in addition to what Sasha & Neisa taught her. The Carrington Family belongs to that special class, always ready & eager to handle all the "dirty" tasks their "betters" do not wish to be soiled by. Dating back to at least the mid-Seventeenth century (some sources place them earlier). Known for extreme globalist ideals, extortion, money laundering, multi-national political maneuvering, misogyny, and drinking red wine with fish. Carrington’s -though extremely tight-knit as global crime families go - have three known historical defectors: • Sylvia Carrington -later known as the pirate, 'Black Anne' Carrington - was a Creole daughter acknowledged, adopted and raised as a full Carrington. Her discovery of the family's slaving operation led to Cynthia dying and Black Anne being born. • The original Sophie Carrington (Neisa 1st Acolyte, Private Secretary and friend) was the second. • The 'Modern" Sophie ( Sophie 2nd) is her direct descendant and has also broken with the family, using her connections and knowledge to directly assist Thomas Nitefall and the SUR. The "Family" operated a number of legitimate companies as cover, including the oil refinery on Goddess Island. Sophie is nominally over these. The pyromancy ability seems to be genetic within the line, with Sophie I & II able to produce fire from their hands Whereas Anne could produce lightning from her hands due to her discovering her power earlier and thus having greater experience in its use. Anne believes Sophie’s ability will eventually ‘mature’ as hers did. * Sophia 2nd has two mobster body guards that are devoted to her: Carlos and Louis. They have been looking after her most of her life. An Incredibly hot sorceress, Tiffany has lived maybe thousands of years. Born when Amazons were common and humans fought against titanic beasts & Lovecraftian horrors, not realizing what they were. Her former name was Thaleia. Parents were very old friends of Gods; she grew up knowing many heroes and powerful figures that shaped the world. Tiffany often says the world is in much greater peril than it was back then. Claims to have met many ancient gods, including the Olympians, even Odin himself. She once went toe-to-toe with The Devil King, a being from another plane trying to take over the world/reshape it into something evil. He was defeated, and his remains can now be found in the National Museum in Athens. Even after so many centuries, Tiffany looks no older than twenty five. When not fighting monsters and other arcane threats, she spends her time reading, playing chess and drinking. Her immortality? If she told you it might break your brain, and she wouldn't want that. As a sorceress, she cannot cast spells as fast as a wizard. However, she can use magic to a far greater degree. Capable of summoning objects and creatures from far away or other planes of existence, change the shape of objects or people, create force fields, and cause herself or other things to disappear/reappear elsewhere, cast magic energy bolts, levitate, among other things. The only limit is her imagination. She she believes she the last surviving member of her ancient coven: The Children of Circe', a group once allied to the Amazons of Themyscira. Tiffany has two ancient portraits, both painted by Sasha's mother, Ileni, found by Sasha after Ilini's death. One is a portrait of Alsemera which hangs over her fire place. the other is Alsemera and herself, painted shortly after their marriage on Themyscira. Tiffany left Themyscira shortly after Alsemera's death, changing her name from Thaleia. It is unknown when she took up the name of Tiffany. She does consulting work for the SUR, who partnered her with a brilliant, if rebellious young chemist named Jonas Davies. Woolintyde is a 17th century Tudor inspired manor house and family home of the DeLyle family. It was Ann's childhood home. Later, Thomas Nitefall would have a version of the house (Woolingstide) constructed on Goddess Island as a surprise for Ann. This will be the Nitefall's final home and would eventually house Ann's relocated parents, Sir Jeffrey and 'Lady' Marta DeLyle. The house will ultimately be inherited by Elaina Nitefall, Thomas, Sasha and Ann's daughter, born from an ovum taken from Sasha and carried to term by Ann. Several notable portraits hang there: Thomas Blackwood and family, Sir Jeffery and Marta DeLyle, Thomas and Ann Nitefall, Sasha & Neisa Nitefall as well as a copy of Neisa's "birthday' portrait. Woolingstide is anchored by an original, restored lighthouse on one end. Goddess Island's flag, The American flag, the British Union flag as well as the St. Georges Cross (Flag of England) fly from the lighthouse peak at different times. Valkyrie Squadron is a fighter-bomber squadron based on Goddess Island. Its pilots are specially trained Amazon volunteers from Sasha's Amazon Legion. The squadron based its early identity on the Russian 588th Night Bombing squadron from World War 2. A small unit, they fly surplus Douglas A-4F Skyhawks, purchased from other countries and reconditioned by the SUR. The planes have an experimental stealth coating added to the airframes as well as upgraded electronics and radars. The squadron also supports 3 surplus Vought F-8 Crusaders to give them a greater defensive punch. The F-8's -when deployed- are primarily piloted by the squadron leader, Lyra (Valkyrie Lead), and her Executive officer Phoebe (Valkyrie 2). They are the best pilots in the squadron. The bulk of the squadron's real strength comes from a vast array of next generation UCAVs (Hawks) developed by Gia Frostdaughter working in close cooperation with the SUR. The drones are high speed, high maneuverability vehicles designed to have a low signature and high payload capacity, supporting electronics for smart air-to-air, as well as air-to-ground munition loadouts.
