His father left then was found two weeks later dead on the river, his mother died of disease and his brother died at battle. Only he and his sister Adamaris kept alive, as his sister began to show signs of the disease, Hazael slaved himself as a gladiator to cost the medicine, but it all was worthless, for she died. He attempted suicide after that, only to find himself planning to jump off a bridge and meeting Aelia Cherise Galatos, a Greek slave. After jumping they revived and survived, finding themselves 'immortal'. They lived through centuries of history never staying in a single place for too long, and after a while began to live human lives for a few years on their own. Hazael now acts as a philologist (studies and translates ancient languages and writings) who earns a great share of money from his work, most of time he stays home deciphering the writings and every now and then is employed to travel to translate new findings, with this money he lives in a modern medium-sized apartment in the middle of New York.
