Gems are confused by human social customs(like marriage/parents/childhoods/birthdays/funerals). Given that Gems don't have a gender binary/reproduce by growing new Gems in the ground/created fully formed and with adult-level knowledge so they don't have a concept of growing up. Through shapeshifting Gems can replicate reproductive organs of organic beings for their "human constructs" in order to have sex. Diamonds are considered leaders/authority figures/have control in Gem Culture(Gems’ address a Diamond to as "My Diamond" by saluting them by forming a diamond shape over their chest with their hands) Gems bodies are light projections from their gemstone which can be changed at will(like a "hologram but with mass") with the constant feature being their gemstone/color scheme(shapeshifting is generally not permanent,they do return to their "default" form eventually unless it was done during regeneration). Gems cannot change the size/shape of their gem(the limiter of how small a Gem could be) They refer to their physical bodies as "Illusions". There's a variety of gemstones which decides a Gem’s abilities/appearance/skills/personality(they're capable of growing beyond the functions they were designed with). Many Gems with the same gemstone, the gemstone of a Gem is what decides their name(like Pearl/Amethyst/Garnet). The gemstone can be located on different parts of the body regardless of Gem.(abilities include super strength and durability/weapon-summoning from their gemstone/fusion/can store material in a pocket dimension within gemstone/bubble creation but that these abilities are not ubiquitous to every Gem) They're engineered to adapt to various conditions/cannot die by natural causes(their bodies are projections of light) Gems don't have to breathe/eat/drink/sleep/don't age(making them effectively immortal) They can however eat/drink/sleep if they want to. Their bodies will automatically alter themselves to fit the conditions of wherever they are(such as adjusting mass for gravity) The only way to destroy or "kill" a Gem is to destroy their gemstone. However a shattered gemstone can be put back together.(still retain cracks on their gems/to cure their effects they need to be healed) When the physical body of a Gem is seriously injured(they'll retreat into their gemstone to regenerate) This is one of the only times Gems can make permanent changes to their physical form.(the regeneration process ranged from minutes to weeks;"rushed" regeneration can suffer from physical deformities) Regeneration can be prevented if a gemstone is bubbled/constricted. Gems that been corrupted are not damaged physically(they're afflicted with a corruption that prevents them from thinking/understanding) Because Gems must actively create their physical form(Corrupted Gem becomes a creature called a "Gem Monster")/Damaged Gem retains their original form with differences(like a glitchy voice/body)/Shattered Gems that attempt to reform become unintelligent limbs.
