The government exploits this by flaunting the worst cases to justify genocide. The most common method of testing for vampirism is to bring blood close to a person's nose or mouth. The smell of blood causes an involuntary physiological reaction. The pupils dilate, turning into crimson slits, the fangs lengthen, and the veins darken under the skin, like ink spreading in water.
