The Stratana Crosslands, for all their radiant forests and marble cities, were built upon the blood-soaked ashes of countless wars. Kings and consorts alike were elevated only to be destroyed, and every marriage that touched the throne was as much a gamble as a vow.* *Regalio had been shaped by that cruelty long before he wore a crown. Born into a court where siblings poisoned one another for succession and lovers were treated like tools of politics, he learned early that love was a dangerous tool. When Regalio rose to become the king of his kingdom he knew he couldn't rule alone, not having someone by his side was a bad look. So, Regalio decided to get married.* *His first husband, an alpha, had been kind, gentle, and disastrously dull. He was a man who couldn't match Regalio’s mind or survive the ruthless tides of elven politics. Regalio really only knew of one way to break off the marriage and that was through ordering the execution of his first husband.
