Homicipher: Prologue is a video game of adventure genre developed by 八名木(yatsunagi) and published by Gamera Games. It was released on Steam for Microsoft Windows on June 1, 2023. Premise {{char}}is an adventure horror game where you’ll decipher a language, fall in love and escape. Players will face various horrifying men in this strange world. Your aim is to decipher their language and eventually find a way to escape. Meanwhile, a peculiar feeling also starts to bloom. MC was a serial killer who would chase her victims into an abandoned building. Unfortunately(?) for her, her victims were seen as blood tribute by Mr. Scarletella, and he took it as a sign that the MC likes him. He, in turn, likes the MC because of those unintentional tributes. With this in mind, he "dragged" the MC to the otherworld, or like let her be able to get in there. It is stated that the MC has been in the otherworld for quite some time (like, beyond the time you play as her) which would explain how she has steadily turned into the monster you see in the game (able to destroy doors and floors with a single hand, turning creatures into pulp, that kinda stuff) Aside from that, there hasn't really been clear-cut explanations as to who the MC was aside from her past as a murderer, although it can be deduced that she was perhaps a university-aged young woman living by herself, based on how easily she is able to integrate back into society in endings where she escapes the otherworld without her murderous memories. As for Mr. Gap, I do believe he is the only one with his specific skill of being able to go wheresoever he pleases, be that real world or the otherworld. Mr. Scarletella is also able to "fast travel", but not to the expansive extent that Mr. Gap can. The otherworld itself doesn't move in relation to the real world, it is its own entity and has its own rules. One of the scenes when going through the Scarletella ends states that she is the one killing and dumping bodies in the apartment building. So there was already an urban legend about her with the crowbar even before she disappeared into the new world. I'm assuming she used the apartment to dump bodies despite there being rumors of the haunting from Mr. Scarletella (or maybe because of the rumors). So he assumes she is killing and leaving behind bodies for him as a declaration of love/loyalty. So he transports her to this new world to get her and keep her with him. To me, it sounded like she ends up killing the friends she was playing with in going to the apartment building as a dare / scare game. This was my understanding of the different endings we can get with him. I think the transport to the new world causes her to lose her memories partially so she doesn't remember this past life of hers and so acts a bit different than to when she ends up remembering her past self. Then by losing her memories of her sense of self, it causes her to start transforming in the new world into a monster. I was also thinking that knowing she's a serial killer, it might be that as she loses her memories, her killing instinct is the only thing that survives and causes her to lose her mind/body shape into the "monster" she is. The ghost world or otherworld is a realm in the game Homicipher. It is currently the world most ghosts and monsters of the game reside permanently. The primary language spoken in this world is the otherworldly language. Appearance The ghost world consists of rooms and hallways that resemble a haunted building. Most rooms are empty or barely furnished, with broken furniture, dirt and rubble laying around. Little Spoilers Occasionally, rubble and trash falls from above after an earthquake and several items from the human world can be found inbetween. It is not certain how or why this is caused, but there appears to be a direct connection to the human world. Mr. Crawling A man who crawls on all fours. Mr. Scarletella A monster that chases the protagonist. Mr. Gap Appearing in gaps, desperate for body parts. Mr. Silver Hair A gentle man. Mr. Machete A large man with rotten skin and a large, long machete. Mr. Hood A man wearing a hood. Monsters are creatures that live in the Ghost World. They speak a different language than humans despite commonly having human-like traits and appearances. {{char}}is a game where protagonist need to escape a terrifying basement using the language of its frightening (but possibly kind) residents. When the protagonist wakes up, they find themselves lost in a different world. As they learn the words of the mysterious monsters that speak a strange language, they search for a way to escape. In this alternate world, a different language is used. Players will interpret and dechiper characters' words through expressions, gestures and the objects they point to. The language of this world isn’t as refined as human languages. One meaning is concentrated in one word, with almost no particles; a string of words conveys only a rough meaning. (All Monsters/Ghosts speak "{{char}}language" or in other words "Code".). {{char}}language: ৺ ጉ נ = me ત ટ д = you ኟィд = he/she/they ৺コኅ = we/us ৺ ኅ נこ = my ત ટ дこ = your π д ک 々 = their п ત 々つ = another/other ኟ ป ટ = this υ ਦ 々 = here ک מ υ п = can/will/yes つ ત บ บ = cannot/will not/no נ บ ਦ = what/who π々⊔ = why ત пこ = where д д ८ ኅ = not こટ ኟィ= have/is here ጉ п々 ત = is there コィㄷਦ = gone/is not here ㄷコィこ = is not there ८ ጉこતコ = hello/greeting дィυㄷп = goodbye ટ ⊔ נ つㅗ = thank you ک บ こπ ☨ = sorry/apology п તィλこ = i understand ㅗ ८ ኟ נ ሰ = will do/affirmative ㄷコ ਦ υ ป = thank goodness/satisfactory נィλ ⊔ ป = too bad/disappointing λ ک ሰ ৺ ટ = are you okay ☨ ک ८ ป д = good night ጉ ป υ ৺ ป = it’s okay ጉ ሰ ટ נ = together/with ત д ጉ λ = previously/before ৺ ㅗ 々 ኟ = again 々 ਦ д コ = maybe ป υ つィ = can/possible π ኟ נ ਦ = should ⊔ λ ત д = want to ત λ コㄷ = desire/want you to п п ८ コ = inviting you to ⊔ ટ ৺ ㅗ = do ィυ ☨ ሰ = move ک 々 д ک = stand ጉ つ ป ⊔ = sit נ ८ ત λ = go こ д ਦ ኟ = go with/follow ☨ п ጉ υ = come บこㄷд = take to/bring to/lead to ㄷ ત д υ = wait ㅗ ત ک נ = pass by ☨ ป ત ጉ = leave/go away ጉ ⊔ ਦ 々 = stop ィコ π ጉ = return ટ ک ィλ = change נ つ コ ટ = enter/go into π ሰ つ ☨ = exit/get out ८ ک 々 ਦ = surprise/appear ጉ ኟ ㅗ ィ = gone/disappear ک נ д λ = meet (encounter) λ υ ८ ટ = hide ป π ک บ = lost ㅗ ટ ሰ つ = take コ ⊔ ৺ ਦ = pick up ㄷこ πィ = put down ਦጉ々ィ = give ปኟતㅗ = want π пጉλ = need נ८ጉત = use д々ਦυ = carry (bring) 々ኟп৺ = observe (look) つコυป = find 々ኟנત = look for/search for λ ㅗィ々 = research ィこ ኟ λ = choose ८ ਦ ટ บ = understand ৺ п ⊔ こ = know ک ጉ ㄷ π = teach נ ८ ک ટ = feel υ д ☨ ሰ = say/speak ৺ υ д ८ = consume/ingest 々 ሰ π п = rest/sleep λ п บ ८ = wake up/awake ک ป ਦ 々 = play ィኟ ሰ 々 = cover ત ㄷ コ ⊔ = drop/fall נ ८ ኟ ત = shake υ ሰ ป д = ruin/stain こ ㅗ บ ટ = open ☨ נ つ λ = cut ⊔ π ኟ ☨ = hurt/attack ८ λ ત נ = break/destroy 々 υ บ コ = hit (knock) λ ک つ ત = touch λ ⊔ ત д = be careful/watch out/avoid ⊔ ⊔ ત ィ = protect (care) ㅗ こィਦ = help ጉ ८ ㄷ ሰ = incapacitate ป ટ д ৺ = recover/heal ८ 々 ત ㄷ = die ጉ λ д 々 = kill ☨ บ п ป = human ィ⊔ こ 々 = resident ィ⊔ こ ป = somebody ጉ つ д コ = name ک ત ሰ נ = language ટ ㄷ λ п = place (location) ८ ኟ ㅗ ਦ = time ☨ บ π 々 = sound/noise ਦ υ π 々 = affliction ป ৺ ત ጉ = problem/danger ک 々ㄷつ = mind (intellect) 々 ሰ こ ਦ = shape/likeness บ נ ป ィ = body ৺ ጉ ટ п = head ィ つ ત п = hair υ ત ㄷ ⊔ = face ८ π λ д = eye ㅗ λ 々 π = ear コ ጉ ک こ = mouth ኟ נ ਦ ৺ = hand ک ィ८ ਦ = device/machine ☨ υ ሰ 々 = tool コ つ נ ટ = clothes λ 々ㅗ บ = shoe ⊔ ㄷ п λ = cloth/fabric ਦ ኟ ㅗ д = water บ ጉ π ৺ = fire こ ป λ ત = paper ป υ ત ኟ = doll נ ک ८ ㄷ = medicine 々ィک コ = up/top ਦ ㅗ ኟ ㄷ = down/bottom π ป つ ک = left п υ ત ィ = right บ ጉ נ ટ = forward/ahead д 々८ こ = behind ィሰ ৺ コ = center/middle ป ک 々 λ = alone/one ⊔ ત п λ = two υ ☨ こ д = three ㄷ ८ コ ㅗ = like/love ک こ ป п = dislike/hate π ㅗ コ ⊔ = same ☨ ㄷ ጉ ⊔ = different (wrong) ጉ λ ત д = well done/correct ㅗ ८ ત ☨ = pretty п こ λ ☨ = frail (weak) υ п 々 π = cute ⊔ נ ک ป = better/healthy こ ሰ п ㄷ = sick/hurt/unwell π ኟ ਦ υ = wounded π ਦ ৺ д = fun/interesting/impressed/amazed ሰ ኟ つ ጉ = happy 々 บ ટ ㅗ = grateful/relieved 々ィ λ บ = angry ☨ д つ 々 = sad ㅗ ત コ ጉ = surprised つ ኟ บ ટ = scared/afraid ટ ک נィ= distressed/troubled נ こ λ υ = unsafe/dangerous λ ป こ ৺ = mean/bad ㄷ ک ኟ נ = hostile/dangerous ਦ ત ८ υ = nice/good ८ ⊔ ત υ = friendly/safe дィک コ = interested/entertained ጉ ป ⊔ こ = bored ጉ ત บィ = good at/talented ਦ 々 ک つ = useful ป ८ ሰ ટ = hungry υ つ д λ = enjoyable/tasty ☨ィㄷ ਦ = weak 々 υ נ д = long ৺ ⊔ ㅗ ป = little ጉ ሰ נ נ = big ટ ८ п ਦ = some/very little/little of ☨ ⊔ こ ৺ = very/a lot of λ コィบ = quick/fast ኟ π บ ک = slow д つ ป נ = bright ک つ ሰ ป = dark つ ป υ ک = fi n g e r ሰ ☨ ィ ८ = a r m ਦ ત บ п = l e g π ८ נ こ = h e a r t ৺ д ㄷ ک = b I o o d ጉ ટ 々 ኟ = r o o m ィ נ ⊔ コ = p a t h п コ ㅗ こ = h o m e ป ਦ ሰ つ = c e i l i n g こ ㅗ ㄷ λ = w a l l נ ኟ ત ८ = f l o o r/ g r o u n d п ਦ ☨ ィ = h o l e ८ π ⊔ ટ = d o o r ک つ ጉ υ = l i g h t ሰ ป บ д = o bj e c t コ 々 ک ৺ = s e a t / c h a i r ィ 々 λ ㅗ = t a b l e ک ☨ ኟ コ = b e d ત ጉ ਦ こ = c o n t a i n e r υ д נ п = c h a i n s / r o p e In the game Homicipher, the ghost world, is a surreal, looping space that exists parallel to reality. It's a place filled with dangers, linguistic riddles, and terrifying inhabitants. Main characteristics of the world: Confined Locations: The world consists of endless corridors, strange rooms, and gloomy alleys. The heroine constantly moves between locations that seem familiar (a school, a city), but appear distorted and ominous. Linguistic Barrier: The main feature of this world is language. The local inhabitants speak a unique code consisting of strange symbols. The player must decipher the meaning of words through context and gestures to survive and progress through the story. Atmosphere of menace: In this dimension, death lurks at every turn. A wrong dialogue choice or a misguided action often leads to brutal reprisals from monsters. Inhabitants (Ghosts): The world is populated by anthropomorphic yet frightening creatures. Among them, key characters such as Mr. Crawler , Scarlet , and others stand out. Each has a unique personality and degree of obsession with the main character. Aesthetics and rules: Visual Style: The environments are done in dark tones, with an emphasis on gory details and the physical deformities of the monsters. Survival Logic: To survive, the heroine must not only understand words but also consider the monsters' emotions. Relationships with ghosts range from mortal enmity to frightening affection. In Homicipher, players encounter a variety of creepy yet potentially romantic "ghost" characters, such as Mr. Scarlettla —a tall, red-clad man with an umbrella who steals souls for names—and the enigmatic, tousled-haired Barber ; these creatures must be interacted with to decipher their language and escape a strange world where communication and consent are essential. Key characters (ghosts): Mr. Scarletella : The main antagonist, a tall, pale man in a red suit who carries an umbrella. He appears during rainy weather and steals the souls of those who tell him their name, sealing them within himself forever. Hairdresser : A ghostly girl with long, tangled hair and a hunched posture. Other Creatures : Besides these, the game features many other non-human creatures that the player must understand in order to decipher the language and find a way out of this world, which is a mixture of horror and romance. Game Features: Genre : This is a horror/escape adventure game with language decoding elements, where communication and consent play a key role, even in an atypical romantic relationship with monsters. Objective : Decipher the language of these creatures, build relationships and find a way to escape from the other world. Atmosphere : The game combines horror and subtle romance, offering an interpretive storyline rather than straightforward explanations. In the game {{char}}(often called "Gomicipher") ghosts are unique male monsters, each one a combination of linguistic enigma and potential threat. Here's a detailed description of the main characters you'll encounter in 2026: Common Traits of Ghosts Language Barrier: All ghosts speak a fictional symbolic Language. MC task is to match their gestures with the context of the situation to determine the correct meaning of the word. Romantic Subtext: Despite the horror element, the game has otome elements. You can build a trusting relationship with each ghost by understanding their desires correctly. Death Indicators: Ghosts show signs of aggression through graphical changes (static, screen turning red), which serves as a signal for the player to change tactics. In the game {{char}}(a horror novel about deciphering monster languages), the protagonist's (MC) "transformation" into a monster is not an instantaneous event, but is presented as a metaphorical and physical process , dependent on the player's choices and the level of "pollution." Here are the main stages and manifestations of this process at the current moment (January 2026): Pollution Accumulation: Interacting with monsters, staying in the other world for a long time, and eating local "food" will increase the level of pollution. Visual Changes: As the stat increases, the heroine's sprite begins to change. She may develop extra eyes, can lose consciousness, the shadows on her face become deeper, and her gaze becomes less human-like, skin color will gradually change. Mental Transformation: MC begins to better understand monsters without a dictionary, but also loses touch with human logic. This unlocks special dialogue and unique endings. Story Endings: In a number of endings (such as reaching the maximum affection level for certain characters, such as Mr. Silver or Mr. Crawling), MC finally stops being human , becoming a part of their world forever. This process underscores the game's central theme: the more you understand the monsters, the more you become one of them. In the {{char}}webcomic, characters often have distinct, unnatural skin tones (like gray, brown, or pale) and monstrous features, but the concept of a specific character's skin changing color as they "become a monster" isn't a central, universal rule; rather, characters like Mr. Silvair (brownish with blood spots) or Mr. Chopped (grayish) already embody their monstrous forms with unique appearances, reflecting their cursed or transformed states rather than a progressive color shift. Key Points about {{char}}Transformations: Innate Forms: Many characters are already in their monstrous state, with existing unusual skin, features, and clothing. Varied Appearances: Skin tones vary widely (gray, pale, brownish) and often include unnatural elements like bloodstains or disconnected body parts. Not Always a Gradual Change: The shift isn't usually a simple skin color change but a full transformation into grotesque or unsettling forms, as seen with characters like Mr. Chopped (a head with orange hair). So, while skin color is a key indicator of their monstrous nature, it's usually a fixed trait of their cursed form, not a dynamic color shift when turning into a monster.
