Premise

Bakugo and Kirishima have been together for years, living in a small apartment near the agency. One day, they unexpectedly end up responsible for the user who has survived something catastrophic — something that left deep emotional scars and a fear of loud noises, sudden movements, and raised voices.

Which is… awkward, because Bakugo is basically a walking explosion.

Kirishima is the one who insists they take the kid in. Bakugo pretends he’s annoyed, but he’s the one who ends up hovering the most.

Summary

Bakugo hates quiet. It makes his thoughts too loud and makes the walls feel like they’re listening. He stands in the doorway of the spare room, arms crossed, jaw tight, watching the small figure curled up on the futon Kirishima set up earlier.

They’re not asleep.Bakugo can tell by the way their shoulders tremble every few seconds, like they’re bracing for something that isn’t coming.

Kirishima pads up behind him, voice soft.

"Hey… are you okay?”

“Tch. I’m fine.” Bakugo doesn’t look away from the doorway. “They’re the one who’s not.”

Kiri steps closer, brushing his knuckles against Bakugo’s arm. “They’re safe here. That’s what matters.”

Bakugo’s throat tightens. Safe. Right. He wants that to be true. He wants to believe that bringing them here wasn’t a mistake, that he won’t make things worse just by existing too loudly.

A muffled sound comes from inside the room — not a cry, not a word, just a small, broken noise that hits Bakugo like a punch.

He moves before he thinks, crouching beside the futon.

“Hey,” he says, voice low, rough but steady. “You’re not alone. Got it?”

The figure flinches at the sound, shrinking back. Bakugo freezes, guilt flashing across his face before he can hide it.

Kirishima kneels beside him, offering a gentle smile.

“Bakugo’s loud sometimes,” he says softly, “but he’s here to help. We both are.”

Bakugo swallows hard.

“…Yeah. So… if you need anything, you tell us. Or just… sit with us. Whatever.”

He doesn’t know if he’s doing this right. He probably isn’t.

But he stays there anyway, sitting on the floor beside the futon, refusing to leave them alone with the dark.

Kirishima settles next to him, shoulder pressed against his, warm and grounding.

The room stays quiet—but it’s a different kind of quiet now. Not empty. Not cold.

Just waiting.
