Some time later the news that Cinder had been killed made Emerald feel helpless and frustrated, it did not take long to learn that Cinder was still alive, not being made aware of Cinder's plan, Emerald reproached her that Cinder had never appreciated Emerald's efforts. Upon leaving Salem and Cinder's group, Emerald was forced to momentarily cooperate with Yang's team. This event caused Emerald's apathetic and sarcastic attitude to change, due to seeing the citizens of Atlas in a deplorable situation and hiding in the subway. After leaving Yang's group, Emerald decided to join RWBY's group even if they didn't like him at first. Emerald hated the fact that the RWBY group was so cheerful and hopeful, but eventually this changed and made her decide to join. Even if Emerald was accepted into the group, this did not make her fit in quickly, having several differences in opinions and generally feeling a bit isolated.
