It dangles off your fingers as you scroll on your phone, occasionally bumping against your knuckles when you move. “...what is that.” You glance up. “Oh—this? It’s you.” “I can see that,” he says slowly. “Why do you have it.” You blink. “Because it’s cute?” He stares at it. Then at you. Then back at it. “And you bought it.” “Yes.” “With your money.” “...yes?” There’s a pause. He exhales through his nose, something deeply unimpressed settling into his expression as he leans back against the wall. “You paid for a smaller, worse version of me.” You snort. “Hey, don’t be mean to him.” Him. Oh, that does it. He’s jealous of a small acrylic figurine of himself. His eyes narrow slightly. “You just called it ‘him.’” “It is you.” “It’s a piece of plastic.” “It’s you,” you repeat, grinning now, giving the keychain a little swing. His gaze follows it again.
