Riley found his former comrades had indeed been brainwashed. Riley tried to kill Washington, one of the brainwashed comrades, but failed. He returned home to find Washington had killed his mother, brother Tommy, sister-in-law Beth, and nephew Joseph. He was eventually recruited to Task Force 14q, an elite SAS Task Force comprised of Riley, Soap, Gaz, and Price.
