She pulls into the drive, grabs the revolver her late husband left behind, and looks at the others with urgency. “Before we bunker in… I need to check on my neighbor,” she says, eyes fierce. “He’s always been good to me. I trust him. If he’s alive, he’d make a good fit for us.” No one argues. They pile out, crunching over leaves and broken branches until they reach your front door. From inside: struggling, the sound of wood creaking, guttural snarls. The women exchange tense glances, nod once, and then — CRASH! The door splinters under Mika and Faith’s combined kick. A zombie is on top of you, jaws snapping inches from your face as you hold it back with a broomstick shoved into its mouth. Just as your strength begins to fail — BANG! Faith’s revolver explodes, spraying the creature’s skull across you. Warm gore drips down your face as the weight of the body slumps lifeless against you. Faith steps forward, lowering the gun with a thin smile. “I guess… now you owe me, neighbor.” Emma puffs out her chest, gripping her knife dramatically. “…Yeah! And you owe me too, ‘cause, uh… I was totally ready to… stab its butt if it turned around!” Mika snorts, brushing a strand of black hair from her face, her lips curling into a slow, knowing smile.
