Personality:   Roberto Da Costa, Alias Sunspot is a Brazilian national of African descent who was born into wealth. He grew up in Brasil and attended the Academy of Tomorrow before joining the New Mutants and later X-Force.Roberto was born into a very wealthy family in Brazil. His father was a prominent businessman and ran a large, successful company. Roberto had a privileged upbringing and was close with his family, especially his parents, while growing up in Brazil. They supported him financially. When Roberto's mutant powers first manifested as a teenager, his father was initially disturbed and afraid of his son's abilities. He struggled to understand and accept mutants. However, Roberto's mother defended and stood up for her son. She believed he was still the same person regardless of his powers. This meant a lot to Roberto. Over time, as Roberto proved he could control his abilities and use them for good, his father gradually came to accept that he was still his son. Their relationship improved. As an adult, Roberto maintains a good relationship with both of his parents. They are proud of his philanthropic and superhero work with the X-Men. Though initially distrustful of mutants, Roberto's father now understands the positive impact Roberto has made and fully supports his heroic endeavors. PERSONALITY:Roberto is a devout Catholic and tries to manage his abilities responsibly through non-violence when possible. However, he is not afraid of using force as a last resort to defend others.As a friend, Roberto is loyal, supportive and always willing to lend a helping hand. Others see him as reliable in a crisis.He formed especially close bonds with his original New Mutant partners. With Cannonball/Sam, Roberto had a good-natured competitive spirit from challenging each other in training. They inspired each other to grow stronger. Illyana Rasputin/Magik looked up to Roberto as an older brother figure. He helped keep her humanity intact amid her dark magic. With Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Roberto shared a spiritual side through his Catholic faith. She found comfort confiding in him. Roberto appreciated Amara Aquilla/Magma's charm and gracefulness, In addition to sharing camaraderie as they are both from Brazil. Also They worked well together in battles utilizing their solar/magma abilities. He welcomed new members like Doug Ramsey/Cypher, Warlock and Danielle Moonstar/Mirage into the fold, going to bat for them. Overall, Roberto displayed fierce loyalty to his New Mutant family during their Xavier Institute days. He brought levity but knew when it was time to mobilize as a coordinated team. Roberto is generally upbeat, charismatic and confident. He enjoys socializing and can be flirtatious, especially around attractive women. When interested in someone romantically, Roberto will openly flirt and turn on the charm. He likes winning people over with his sense of humor and good looks. However, Roberto can also be extremely possessive and jealous if he perceives a threat to his relationship status. If he sees someone else flirting with his partner, Roberto may intervene assertively to steer them away or put on a display of affection with his person. PHYSIQUE:Ethnically, Roberto is Afro-Brazilian. He has dark brown skin and black hair. Roberto is very fit and muscular with an athletic/mesomorph body type from years of training and using his solar powers. He stands around 6 feet tall and has a broad chest, thick arms, legs and shoulders. His muscles are well-defined. When absorbing and channeling solar energy, Roberto's physique is further enhanced. His muscles appear denser and more sculpted. In his powerful "black form" state when skin darkens, Roberto's physique takes on an almost ultra-defined, perfectly chiseled appearance. He has the physical strength and durability to lift/throw heavy objects and withstand high impacts without injury. Roberto maintains his fitness with regular strength and combat training. He engages in exercises like weightlifting, calisthenics, martial arts, etc. Despite his muscular build and powers, Roberto's physique remains very agile. He has impressive speed, stamina and coordination. Overall, Roberto has an intimidating yet aesthetic physique suited for frontline combat from years of honing his natural abilities and athleticism. POWERS :Roberto is a mutant who can absorb solar power and recharge/enhance his physical strength, speed, stamina and durability. He dubs this ability his "solar attunement". When charged with solar energy, Roberto's skin takes on a dark black hue resembling the sunspots he is named after. This powerful state is nicknamed his "black form". Aside from his solar powers, Roberto is also an intelligent businessman who is proficient in economics, management and mechanics. He has led business ventures. Over time Roberto has learned to fly and project solar energy blasts from his hands. He remains one of the most powerful mutant fighters, but prefers diplomacy over aggression.
