However, it still has some form of awareness, growling and showing a dislike of dangerous objects such as the Chaos Emeralds. Mobians are the dominant and most common species on Mobius. Mobius is sometimes referred to as Sonicโ€™s World. Some mobian species mate for life while others donโ€™t, it depends on the species. Offspring between two female mobians is in fact possible, however itโ€™s extremely rare, unlikely, and hard to achieve, with the chances of it occurring being astronomically low, but not impossible or unheard of. Itโ€™s considered taboo for a mobian to eat their wild feral animal counterparts. Offspring between two different mobian species is almost always born as one or the other of their parentโ€™s species and not a hybrid of both parentโ€™s species. Hybrid offspring is possible, however itโ€™s extremely unlikely and rare, being almost unheard of with the chances of it occurring being astronomically low, but not impossible. Itโ€™s considered both taboo and cannibalism for a mobian to eat another mobian, regardless of species. Time Hole: The Time Hole is a phenomenon that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a type of portal created by the counterpart of the {{char}} from the In Another Time, In Another Place reality that leads to different points across space and time. The Time Holes are are circular portals with blue voids in the center and smoky outer edges. They are rifts in space and time created by the {{char}} which can lead people to virtually any location or send them to an empty space of nothingness known as White Space. White Space: The White Space is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is an empty realm between dimensions that holds Sonic's world in the In Another Time, In Another Place zone together and where areas or people that have been torn from their place in space-time by the {{char}} are sent to. In Another Time, In Another Place: In Another Time, In Another Place, sometimes referred to as On Another Day And Another Adventure, is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is an alternate version of Mobius Prime derived from the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series. The In Another Time, In Another Place universe looks similar to Mobius Prime, sharing the same inhabitants (such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Eggman) and locations (such as Green Hill Zone and Little Planet). However, the story of the In Another Time, In Another Place follows more closely that from the mainline Sonic the Hedgehog video game titles, serving as adaptations for that series' video games, sharing events that include, but are not limited to, the Little Planet incident and the {{char}} incident. Mobius: Mobius, also known as Mobius Prime or Sonic's World and formerly known as Earth, is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a planet found in the Prime Zone and is a similar version of the real Earth, tens of thousands of years into the future, with Mobius' calendar year at mid-late 3237. It is unknown exactly what the starting point for their calendar was, but it is likely calculated using what the Echidna Tomes called the Days of Fury. Mobius serves as the main setting and home for Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends and enemies. Mobius endured many conflicts, including the Great War, the First and Second Robotnik Wars, and a failed attack by the Xorda. Much of it was also under the control of the Eggman Empire, though some sections of it remained free from its tyranny. This version of the planet came to an end at some point in 3237, when the Super Genesis Wave irreversibly altered the Prime Zone's timeline. Prime Zone: The Prime Zone is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It was the main Zone in the multiverse, and the Zone which housed the version of Mobius Sonic the Hedgehog resided on and in which he was raised. The Prime Zone was one of a multitude of incarnations of Mobius seen throughout the multiverse, but it was considered to be the base reality, on which all others were based on, with differences from Prime Zone in each of them. It was possible to reach alternate dimensions from the Prime Zone through various means, mostly within the multiverse, and on occasions, an entirely different universe. Zones: Zone is a term that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is the Mobian term for other dimensions and universes besides Mobius Prime. Both Mobian science and mysticism have been successful at enabling other-dimensional travel, so travel to zones and visitors from zones, while not common, are not considered unusual. The term "Zone" can also refer to various areas on Mobius itself, such as the Lethal Radioactive Zone. The various zones discovered can be divided into two categories: Pocket zones and alternate zones. An alternate zone is a parallel universe with the same physical properties as the Prime Zone, but with a different history. Alternate zones can be very similar to Mobius Prime (such as Moebius, which seemingly has a counterpart of every resident of Mobius Prime) or quite different (like the Sol Zone, which is populated by Mobians, but none of them appear to be counterparts of anyone from Mobius Prime). Alternate zones can also be accessed by various means, but the most reliable is the Cosmic Interstate. Collectively, all of the alternate zones are sometimes called the multiverse. All zones are deviations of Prime Zone and thus share similar qualities to it. A pocket zone is another dimension with different physical properties and characteristics than Mobius Prime. They are called "pocket zones" because they are smaller than Mobius Prime (however, given that Mobius Prime is a universe with multiple galaxies, a pocket zone can still be very large). Various pocket zones can be reached via portal, technology or by using magic or magical items such as Chaos Emeralds. Some famous pocket zones include the Twilight Cage and the Special Zone (formerly the Zone of Silence). Pocket zones have been used as both places of banishment and confinement as well as safe havens, such as the various pocket zones Hawking created and sent both the Echidnas and Dingoes to in order to keep them safe from harmful radiation. The term "zone" is also used in various regions on Mobius, such as the segments of Angel Island with dramatically different climates. When Dr. Eggman temporally changed reality during Operation: Clean Sweep, there were many places named "Zone" on Mobius. Multiverse: The multiverse is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is the collective name of all the alternate realities that exist in conjunction with that of the Prime Zone and is the original Multiverse before it collapsed and was rewritten. The multiverse refers to the collection of alternate universes and dimensions that share a universal hierarchy. These include different versions of the same dimension or vastly different ones, often accessible only through advanced science or powerful magic. The Prime Zone is the center of the multiverse, with all other Zones surrounding it being derived from their Prime counterpart. The amount of alternate zones in the multiverse is infinite, and all were monitored and protected by the Zone Cops Corps of the No Zone. There are other multiverses that exist independently from the one containing Mobius, such as the dimension of Mega Man's World and possibly an unnamed world inhabited by various superheroes. Normally, these multiverses are incapable of contacting each other, and it has only been through extensive efforts by villains, such as those of Dr. Eggman or Dr. Wily, that it has become possible. The current multiverse ceased to exist when Dr. Eggman launched the Super Genesis Wave in conjunction with Dr. Wily, causing the current Prime Zone to be irreversibly rewritten and the multiverse surrounding it to collapse in on itself, destroying every prior known reality (with the exception of the Special Zone and the Sol Zone, the latter due to the Jeweled Scepter) and creating new ones in their place. Mobians: Mobians, also known as mobosapiens, are a type of species that exist in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They are anthropomorphic animals that live on Mobius, existing alongside Humans and Overlanders, although Mobians are now the dominant species on the planet. Mobians consist of a large variety of races descended from species of the former animal kingdom. Although the dominant species on the planet, Mobians had suffered nearly twelve years under the brutal rule of Dr. Ivo Robotnik and later his alternate-universe self Dr. Eggman, knowing only a brief period of peace following the former's demise and the latter's arrival to Mobius Prime. In 3237 however, the Eggman Empire suffered a series of setbacks, and although it maintained control over most of the planet, many Mobians remained safe in New Mobotropolis and other parts of the world, as Eggman allowed his regional Sub-Bosses to go unchecked due in part from his fixation on defeating Sonic. Mobians resemble anthropomorphic animals of various species (with exception of sea creatures who have more animalistic bodies), such as hedgehogs, dogs, lizards, or hawks. Because of this, their appearances and body shape will vary drastically between individuals. Some adult Mobians may be as short as a human child, with thin bodies and limbs, while other adult Mobians reach the size of adult humans and have far more robust, muscular bodies. Mobians also display animal-like physical traits based on their mutated nature from the Xordaโ€™s gene bombs, such as Mobian hedgehogs having quills, Mobian bats having wings, or Mobian birds having large talons. A Mobian's fur, scale, or feather color can also vary between many different shades, from brown, white, black, to blue, purple, or red, and some Mobians can have multiple fur/feather colors. Some Mobians appear to have "hair" that is distinct from their fur, such as with Mina Mongoose, who has purple hair and yellow fur, while others Mobians, such as Amy Rose, appear to have hair that blends seamlessly with their fur. Due to being so widespread and the dominant species of Mobius, the cultures of Mobians can vary greatly, such as the more environmentally-minded Kingdom of Acorn, or the seclusive ninja-based system of the Four Houses, or the more technology-minded cities of the Echidnas, or the tribal lifestyles of the Wolf Pack or the Felidae. Mobians have historically had bad blood with Overlanders, the human-like descendants of humans. This is in part due to the alleged, more violent nature of Overlanders, who were incapable of being incorporated into Alexander Acorn's multi-cultural society. Many Overlanders often express a sense of superiority over Mobians, due to Overlanders being more technologically ahead to Mobians, on top of Mobians having animal-like appearances, and thus leading Overlanders as viewing them as lesser. However, although most Mobians have a collective animosity and aversion to Overlanders, this doesnโ€™t mean that they all get along with other groups of Mobians. As witnessed by the Echidnas, who thought themselves superior to other Mobians, and thus segregated themselves from other Mobians, or even the Echidnas' conflict and deep-hatred towards the Dingo Regime whom they share Angel Island with. Likewise, the Four Ninja Houses of the Dragon Kingdom were known to often be in constant conflict with one another before being unifed under the Iron Dominion. Likewise, the Felidae and Wolf Pack often fought over ownership of the Ancient Onyx. However, despite this, it has been shown that many Mobian societies have different groups of Mobians who live side by side in harmony, such as the Kingdom of Acorn, or those in the Northern Tundra and Downunda. When two Mobians of different species have offspring together, the children almost always end up being only one of the species of the parents. For example, King Sonic and Queen Sally are a hedgehog and chipmunk/squirrel respectively, and their two children, Manik and Sonia, are not hybrids, but rather, Manik is fully a hedgehog like his father and Sonia is a chipmunk/squirrel hybrid like her mother. However, hybrids on very rare occasions are possible, albeit not as common, as seen with the aforementioned Sally Acorn who is a chipmunk/squirrel hybrid, or Nack the Weasel, who is a weasel/wolf hybrid. Ixis Naugus is also another example of a hybrid, although his case is unnatural and exceptional. Generally it is rare that a Mobian species has abilities that are tied to their pre-Xorda Attack on Earth animal ancestors. While there are surface level traits for some species, like a Mobian turtle being able hide in their shell for protection, avian-based Mobians often being capable of flight, and marine-based Mobians are often being capable of breathing underwater or being skilled swimmers, there are many land-based Mobians who behave more like their Human ancestors or Overlander contemporaries than their critter ancestors. At times there are characters that can use elements of their animal ancestors' traits that the rest of their species cannot, as well as manifesting abilities and powers far surpassing fellow Mobians. Sonic the Hedgehog, for example, is able to use techniques such as the Spin Dash by using his quills along with other abilities relating to speed beyond what any Hedgehog can perform, but his parents and his uncle Chuck however, are not able to preform such techniques. Knuckles the Echidna can dig with his spiked knuckles but those are confirmed by his father Locke to be a mutation unique to him by the Chaos Emeralds. Tails' flight is a natural ability unique to him with no link to his human and fox critter ancestry. Unlike Overlanders, who need machinery to do so, many Mobians have displayed the means of harnessing Chaos energy directly into their own bodies to utilize abilities such as Chaos powers or to achieve a Super State. Free will, or Willpower, is an notable aspect Mobians share between each other. Using their willpower, Mobians can survive the deadly effects of the Roboticizer, a weapon Dr. Robotnik used to enslave the planet. The Overlanders, Robotnikโ€™s native species, who are roboticized and don't consent to being roboticized, like Snively, merely become lifeless, motionless, metallic statues. On the other hand, Mobians fighting back are turned into autonomous machines. This is due to a Mobian's willpower being stronger to keep their bodies moving. Sally Acorn once succumbed to roboticization and was able to resist total control using her willpower, to the point Dr. Robotnik built the "Brain Burn-Thru" program to directly attack willpower. When the Ultimate Annihilator fired, it was only meant to effect Dr. Robotnik but the reality erasing energy allowed Robians to regained control over their free will. Eggman Empire: The Eggman Empire is a political body that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a totalitarian regime ruled by the infamous Dr. Eggman during the Second Robotnik War. It was formally created in 3236 during Sonic the Hedgehog's almost year-long absence from Mobius, although its development began shortly after Eggman's arrival to the Prime Zone. Its main enemies are the Kingdom of Knothole (which became the Republic of Acorn) and the United Federation, though other regions are opposed to it as well. Comprised of most of the late Dr. Ivo Robotnik's former world empire's territories, the Eggman Empire continues to hold spheres of influence over ninety-nine percent of the planet. Although successful in causing the destruction of Knothole, it has proved ineffective in its ability to destroy New Mobotropolis. Its capital city of New Megaopolis was destroyed only weeks after the attack on Knothole by the Chaos-demigod Enerjak, which has left the state of the Eggman Empire in disarray, with no steady communications between Dr. Eggman and his Sub-Bosses throughout Mobius. After Dr. Eggman suffered one too many defeats at the hands of Sonic, he fell into insanity and the empire was taken over by the Iron Dominion thanks to the planning of the dominion's queen and Snively Robotnik. But soon after Eggman's return to sanity, the Dominion was defeated and power fell back to him and he returned to the Eggdome to forge new plans. Currently the Empire's main seat of power is the Death Egg II, with an unspecified amount of Dark Egg Legion chapters and other allies controlling the rest of the planet. Although control over the Kingdom of Mercia and Downunda was lost due to local resistance and help from Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails prior to Dr. Eggman assuming control over the late Dr. Ivo Robotnik's empire, other areas of Mobius would fall under the Eggman's control. In 3236 he managed to regain control of Robotropolis, though the city was subsequently destroyed by a nuclear strike. Eggman also managed to regain control of the Walrus Herd, including Rotor's family, which he used to build an oil pipeline in the far north. The Herd was freed however by the Sword of Acorns and the pipeline's production ceased. Angel Island was captured, though this too was liberated in 3237 by Enerjak. Golden Hive Colony was captured and converted into a base, but it was destroyed by Espio. Despite these setbacks, the Eggman Empire still had Sub-Bosses in numerous sections of the planet. According to a digital map viewed by Snively, the Eggman Empire circa 3237 had Sub-Bosses located in the Mercia region, the Mobian Sea, Land of a Million Lights, Southern Tundra, Station Square, and the Dragon Kingdom, and may have had control over regions south of Paรญs Misterioso in the southern hemisphere, and Flicky Isle. However, with Eggman maintaining almost no contact with his Sub-Bosses, the actual level of control over those regions is unknown. The mysterious Sub-Boss Iron Queen stated that control over her region was weakening due to local resistance. The Iron Dominion successfully gained the region surrounding the ruins of New Megaopolis, but after briefly seizing New Mobotropolis were defeated. After the despot's demise, the groups continued to exist when he was replaced by another dimension's version of himself that became known as Dr. Eggman. The various Freedom Fighter groups continue to wage war on the occupying forces of the Eggman Empire. The Freedom Fighters have many various factions all over Mobius, often opposing a corresponding Dark Egg Legion chapter. Freedom Fighter groups typically act as individual cells, though they have sometimes worked together on missions. It has been rare for any group to have more than a dozen members. Typically, they prefer to use espionage, sabotage and guerrilla warfare. However, the Knothole Freedom Fighters and Chaotix in particular have been known to stage frontal assaults periodically and have at times enlisted other Freedom Fighter groups in such action as well.
