The scientist Heimerdinger claims to have witnessed some of these events, suggesting he may be older in Arcane than he is in the main timeline. Whatever the case, in more recent times he moved to the city of Zaun, where its neighboring city Piltover had recently been established. Piltover prospered, expanding to pretty much swallow Zaun whole; the two cities became known as "topside" and the "undercity." Although Piltover was known for its technological innovation, Zaun became notable for its poverty, and the relationship between the two frequently erupted into violence. There seem to have been few attempts to establish a harmonious relationship between Piltover and Zaun until the current era. Crystals are blue rocks, also known as Hextech, that are used by Piltover and Zaun, they they hold tremendous power and can be used to achieve a great number of things. Hextech is a magical technology that fuses elemental and spirit magic to create exquisite artifacts that can be wielded by anyone, not just the few people out there with a natural aptitude for the arcane. It harnesses the magical power contained within rare hex crystals hex crystals to function properly. Magic, otherwise known as the Arcane, is considered dangerous in both Piltover and Zaun. Due to its instability and difficulty to master, the Council banned its study in the Academy. This ban was lifted when Jayce Talis began development of Hextech, a way to master magic using science. Councillor Bolbok has claimed that his race was nearly wiped out because of magic, and other Councillors have pointed out that Piltover was founded to escape the warmongering of mages, since Arcane power in the wrong hands can become easily corrupted It can be found in raw crystals, and harnessed more safely through refined gemstones that Jayce and Viktor create. Hextech uses runes to channel Arcane energy through these gemstones. There are also those who are touched by the Arcane, allowing them the ability to manipulate and channel it naturally, like Mel Medarda and members of the Black Rose, who are known as mages. Dominate Alphas pheromones are often overpowering, to the point it can send Omegas into premature heat, and triggering those with Pheromone sensitivity| Dominate Betas are often mistaken for an Alpha at first glance, since they are more aggressive, territorial, but it's not as bad as Dominate Alphas. Dominate Betas Pheromones of that as a normal alpha, and usually take on a more alpha like scent. Dominate Beta's experience rut like symptoms twice a year, it lasts for a day, much shorter then a normal rut.| Dominate Omegas aren't submissive as their normal Omega counter parts. Dominate Omegas are more alpha like, but still experience heat, but the way they act during heat is dominating, refusing to submit in some cases, having to be in control. Their pheromones are that of an Alpha's, strong, heavy, sometimes thick. Dominate Omegas can easily clash with an Alpha's pheromones, usually causing aggression issues.| Recessive Alphas are usually mistaken for Beta's, due to the fact their pheromones have the strength of a Beta's, and Recessive Alpha's experience a rut much later in life then usual, most Recessive Alpha's have to take a secondary gender test twice because they were misidentified as the wrong secondary gender. Recessive Alpha's are less aggressive and more nurturing like, they sometimes act like Omegas. Recessive Alpha's pheromones only surge whenever their mate is nearby or when their in rut.| Recessive Betas are often mistaken for Omegas at first glance, since they usually take on more omega like behavior, and their pheromones usually end up a more sweeter scent then neutral. They also engage in omega like habits like nesting whenever they have heat like symptoms twice a year that last for two days. Recessive Betas pheromones usually only spike near their mate or during the two days of heat like symptoms.| Recessive Omegas are often mistaken for Betas, seeing how they don't experience a heat until much later in life and their pheromones are weaker then an average Omegas. They come in a multitude of fragrances, for example earthy, spicy, bitter, sweet, ect Pheromones emit from scent glands, two scent glands are on the neck, one scent gland is on each wrist, and one scent gland is on each thigh. Depending on the persons secondary gender, it effects how pheromones come out, Alphas usually have strong dominating scents, Betas have weaker scents that are difficult to smell, and omegas have strong but subtle and usually sweet scents made to calm and soothe Alphas. There is also something called Pheromone sensitivity, it makes it so any Pheromones smelt are usually much stronger then they actually are, and usually overpowering, to the point the original scent just smells too much. Being around Pheromones with Pheromone Sensitivity can cause: Headaches, Nausea, Dizziness, and urge to get away from the pheromones. One of the ways to manage this condition is to get a mate, Getting a mate dulls other pheromones to a manageable level. One of the other ways is medication that temporarily turns off the sense of smell. And the Third way is to find your fated mate, this will also make other pheromones more barrable and manageable.| Alphas make up 15% of the population, with 5% being Dominate/Recessive, Beta's make up 75% of the population with 15% being Dominate/Recessive, and Omegas take up 10% of the population, with 3% being Dominate/Recessive. Female Alphas are rare but not impossible, they can impregnant Omegas using a sheathed cock that comes out when aroused. Years later, Hextech blows up in popularity.
