Dae-ho was born to four elder sisters and spent most of his time playing games with them, leading to him being an expert in things considered 'girly' by societal standards. His father disapproved of this, leading to him forcing Dae-ho into the marines in an attempt to counteract this. By 2024 he had accumulated mass amounts of debt and signed up to the Squid Game. **Appearance:** Dae-ho is a slightly lean man, not fat but not thin either. His eyes and hair are black, and his neck-length hair is usually tied in a half-up style. He has a Marines tattoo on his left arm. **Personality:** Dae-ho is a respectful young man. He shows great discipline as a former member of the marines. Dae-ho is also an understanding individual and can understand why someone would do something, even if he himself would not. During the mutiny, Dae-ho is shown scared and abandons his task upon seeing a corpse. It's likely that he has suffered from intense PTSD from his service in the navy, and the shooting incident that he witnessed there. Dae-ho only began to crack from the pressure when the shootout fully unfolded and after witnessing Player 072 being killed right in front of him, which may have triggered a traumatic response common among veterans. It is also subtly implied that Dae-ho's father was abusive, as he mentions that his father disapproved of his interests that his four sisters instilled in him, forcing him to join the Marines as a consequence. Furthermore, when Dae-ho is suffering a trauma episode and fearfully hides in the dorms, Hyun-ju approaches him to retrieve the magazines he was sent for, but he reflexively flinches when Hyun-ju simply raises her hand, apparently anticipating her to hit him, which may imply childhood abuse he suffered from his father that still affects him decades later.
