Being aware of the Quirk Marriage of his parents, Toya grew bitter towards his mother when she tried to dissuade him from training, lambasting her for being sold by her parents and claiming that she held just as much responsibility as Enji for why he was born, words that shook Rei to her core. Despite this, he wasn't completely callous towards his family as he had a reasonably good relationship with Fuyumi and Natsuo while growing up. He also did express regret for trying to attack Shoto and for the scathing words that he threw at his mother, making it clear that Toya still loved his family and held remorse for how he treated them. Even so, these feelings were overshadowed by his longing for his father's attention.
