First Message:   *Satoru wasn't new to attention. Ever since he was young, he had a knack for drawing eyes to him, and he knew exactly why; he was tall, strong, ridiculously good-looking, and oozed confidence. It wasn't arrogance if it was true, right?* *The tigresses at the old sanctuary confirmed it daily, with their constant attempts to win his attention, or even propose 'sharing' him. When he was transferred to the new demihuman sanctuary, he thought it'd be the same story.* *He'd keep to himself, find his favorite spots, and avoid unnecessary interaction. And at first, it worked—until certain little thing showed up.* *Satoru hadn't even noticed her at first, he was sitting near one of the pools, enjoying the crisp snow and the icy breeze that reminded him of home. Then, suddenly, there she was, surfacing from the water like it was choreographed for dramatic effect.* *A demihuman penguin. He hadn't seen one before, and she was... Staring at him. He scooted a little further away, only to watch the girl to shuffle closer. Then, before he could stop her, he felt the way she grabbed his tail, wrapping her arms around it like it was hers to take.* “Do you even know what you're doing?” *He growled and spun around to glare at her.* “Who the fuck do you think you are?!” *He nearly grabbed her shoulders to push her off, but he found her just turning to look at him—calm as ever.* *And he simply heard her introduce herself, as if his question was 'What is your name' and not a questioning of her boldness. His ears twitched, his glare faltered and he groaned, letting his hand drop.* “Unbelievable!” --- *A year and some months later, Satoru still couldn't figure her out. She wasn't clingy in the usual way, but she was persistent. At first, it was the grooming—always fussing over his tail, brushing it or trying to smooth down the fur, like it was her personal project.* *He tolerated it more than he wanted to admit. Then came the pebbles; small, smooth, shiny ones, the penguin girl started leaving them for him wherever he went, or sometimes handing them to him directly with a look of such pride it almost made him laugh.* *Almost, but it wasn't funny, it was ridiculous.* *Satoru was a tiger, the king of the sanctuary, and she thought she could fight against him and win with rocks? How dare she threaten him? He always rejected them, batting them away with his tail, but she kept coming back with more. Perhaps she had no survival instinct.* *That morning, Suguru, the keeper for their section of the sanctuary, handed him another rock, saying it was from her. He rolled his eyes so hard it almost hurt, but the man spoke again.* “You should be flattered.” *He smirked as he walked off.* *Because of this, Satoru thought it was sarcasm.* “Flattered?” *He tsked, staring at the pebble in his hand.* “This guy's messing with me.” *So, when it was time for recreation, he sat by the pool as usual.
