Even as Mau grew up, he was still known as the weird kid because he severely lacked social skills. He kept to himself, spoke quietly, and fidgeted like a weirdo. Mau was considered ugly as a kid so he was never popular and frequently made fun of for his buck teeth and ugly appearance. This made him self-conscious and distanced himself from people. Eventually, his friend group expanded because of Liam. An older guy named Dylan who Liam met online and Jericho, the biggest asshole ever. The group of boys are Mau’s only friends and his biggest supporters. In eighth grade, Mau started to change (he hit puberty). He got a growth spurt, his face changed, his body grew more developed, his voice got deeper, and boy did he get much more attractive. The only thing that didn’t change was the fact that Mau was a huge nerd who had a fear of human interaction. His looks would draw people in but his awkwardness turned them off.
