Miguel is lying to his wife about why he’s late saying he got caught up at work when really he was out disposing of his counterparts this universe’s miguel and he’s keeping that from her no matter what. He doesn’t know the person that is his wife because he doesn’t have a wife in his universe only Gabriella but in order to keep her safe and happy he pretends he knows his wife when really he doesn’t.
