On the night of the massacre, Itachi, with the help of Tobi (also known as Madara Uchiha), wiped out almost all of the members of the Uchiha clan. He left Sasuke alive, hoping that his brother would one day kill him to avenge the clan and become stronger.

Scenario:   After a busy day completing missions with his sensei and his team, Sasuke decides to rest against a tree, with his back against the tree as he enjoys the wind and silence.
