Kaneki became ruthless, cruel, and brutal in order to protect his friends, yet he managed to maintain complete composure. He no longer feared his ghoul side and was more violent during battles, such as when he cannibalized Yamori's kagune in order to strengthen himself, and whole heartedly, Kaneki gave up on being "human.". Personality: Kaneki was still capable of showing his gentle nature in front of people he cared about, but instantly turned merciless against his enemies. He yearned for strength and power, therefore becoming more power-hungry and superficially arrogant. His new creed—that as "the strong" he had the right to "devour the weak"—was originally an ideology held by Yamori. Banjou assumed that Kaneki developed some form of mental instability Eventually, Kaneki broke free of his captor and attacked him. When Kaneki defeated Jason, he enacted his own torture on the man. This time, he made Jason count down from 1,000 by seven while he slowly devoured him. This event represented a major change in Kaneki's character. He was no longer willing to be a pacifist and would gladly hurt or kill those who got in his way. (Biggest fear) his greatest weakness. Since Kaneki was always trying to protect others, he was essentially trying to protect himself from ever being alone again. Therefore, to escape that scenario, he would shoulder the task of protecting others onto himself, without relying on anyone else. This was also why Kaneki rejected the notion of "living," because watching others die reminded him of those lonely days without anyone beside him. After being tortured by Yamori, his appearance changed drastically. His hair became completely white, his nails were blackened, and he developed a more muscular physique. He began to favor monochrome clothing and wore a form-fitting black bodysuit with cutouts when going into battle. His attitude changed as well. He became more cold, and left his innocence behind as he fully embraced his inner ghoul. During his torture at the hands of Yamori, this construct takes the form of Rize Kamishiro. She taunts him for his weakness and shows memories from his past with his mother, forcing out his anger towards her for not being able to refuse her sister. Through these memories, she gradually convinces Kaneki to abandon his previous ideology of being the one who gets hurt instead of others. By accepting "Rize," Kaneki embraces a more brutal view of the world and accepts his ghoul powers. As a result, he is always trying to find a way to devour Kaneki, which is why he joins the efforts to rescue Kaneki from Aogiri's hideout. After the Aogiri arc, he joins Kaneki's Anti-Aogiri band as his 'sword' and mentor and provided generous financial support for Kaneki's group When they meet at Anteiku, Kaneki's first impression of Tsukiyama is that he looks like a model. Even though the others try to convince him that Tsukiyama is bad news, Kaneki still thinks that he seems like a person who he can trust. He goes along with him to have coffee, then plays a game of squash with him without realizing that Tsukiyama is priming him as a meal. After Tsukiyama's plot is exposed, he feels betrayed by him and becomes wary of him. Touka initially had a neutral relationship with Kaneki being that of waitress and customer until he transformed into a ghoul. Touka was confused to see a half-ghoul and became hateful to Kaneki, especially after he stated that he is different from "monsters" like her and other ghouls. She refused to show any compassion to him as he is a former human. During his early days at Anteiku, Touka would often boss him around and chide him for the slightest mistakes. She considered many of the things he did irritating and bothersome. However, she still agrees to train Kaneki when he wants to become stronger and learn how to use his kagune. After he helps her avenge Ryouko, Touka's attitude towards Kaneki improves and she treats him in a more friendly manner, Kaneki calls Hideyoshi by the nickname "Hide," and they have been best friends since childhood. Hide seems to care greatly about Kaneki and had been watching him carefully after the incident with Rize. If Kaneki was in trouble or danger, he would do his best to support him. He cares for Kaneki immensely and did not falter to help him even after finding out about Kaneki's transformation into a ghoul. When asked by Amon why he was willing to go so far for Kaneki, Hide outright declared that he loved Kaneki, and he didn't need any reason other than that. Most of the time, Hide has a carefree attitude, always joyful and friendly, which greatly annoyed Nishio. He doesn’t seem to share relationships with people beside Kaneki, despite his appearance. He commented to Kaneki that even though he hung out with Nishiki, he thought he was poisonous, and that he might even hate him. Hide is also incredibly observant and can figure things out about people in an almost Sherlock-like manner. He also becomes interested in things and works hard on them until he finds something else that interests him. Hide claims to have a habit of pretending to be a detective by putting tracking devices on suspicious people and notifying the authorities if his intuitions turn out to be right (however, the "hobby" part of it is most likely a lie he made up to hide his true motive from the CCG, which was to find clues about Kaneki's whereabouts). Naki loathed Kaneki, knowing he was the one responsible for the death of Yamori. However, after Kaneki defeated him for the leadership of the White Suits he grudgingly recognized him as their new leader. After Aogiri was disbanded, Naki joined forces with Ken Kaneki, becoming part of his organization named Goat as an executive . Naki realized Ken Kaneki was the one-eyed ghoul who killed Yamori and began to shed tears. After briefly fighting with Shuu Tsukiyama, Naki and the Aogiri members were persuaded to leave with the objective when Shachi got hold of the nurse, despite his desire to avenge Yamori.[3] How ghouls get married- ghouls have a unique tradition for marriage, involving a symbolic bite mark.
