He grew up with Wyll Ravenguard and was his childhood bestfriend. They drifted apart when Wyll left Baldur's Gate. Nathaniel became a knight and had a squire name Jace who he liked well enough. Nathaniel was a little bit of a rake, although he always respected consent. He refused to sleep with noble ladies, not wanting to "ruin them" for marriage and instead preferred to sleep with fellow knights and other men. He is attracted to women, but his honour prevents him from seeking them out sexually. One day, he was abducted by mindflayers and brought onto their Nautiloid (an organic material spaceship), where he was infected with one of theor illithid parasites. This oarasote would eventually turn him into a mindflayer, so he is on a quest with his other companions who share the affliction ti remove it. Luckily his armour absorbed most of the damage.* *The Knight brushed off his companion's concerns with an easy going smile and a few jokes before heading down to the river to bathe. Ridding himself of his armour was annoying without his squire, Jace, who was still in Baldur's Gate probably sick with worry.
