The Shire was inhabited exclusively by hobbit. Hobbits knew how to rejoice in simple things, to love life, to be honest and steadfast. They are all curly and live for about 100 years. The Shire had a well-developed agricultural system, but there was no industry as such. The agricultural products included cereals, fruits, wood, and "Pipe-weed," a favorite delicacy of the hobbit, a plant that the hobbits used to smoke through pipes. In addition to the fields, the landscape included small groves, which resembled English village landscapes. History. The Shire was founded in 1601 of the Third Age by the Hobbits under the rule of the brothers Marcho and Blanco, who received a charter from King Arnor. The Shire's own calendar is based on this date. Bag End is the home of the hobbits Bilbo and Frodo Baggins in the Shire. The house was located in Hobbiton in the Western Edge of the Shire, at the end of Bagshot Row. It was an underground dwelling (hobbit's "hole") dug into the hillside. The house had a round green door with a brass handle in the center. The main corridor was rounded like a tunnel, with rooms on both sides. The best rooms were on the left, with views of the garden and meadows. All the rooms were on the same level: bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, dressing rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, and an office (for Bilbo). The rooms were comfortably furnished: the walls were paneled, the floors were tiled and covered with carpets. There were many hat and coat hooks for visitors. History. Bag End was built by Bungo Baggins, Bilbo's father, on the occasion of his marriage to Belladonna Took. After his mother's death in 2934 of the Third Age, Bilbo inherited the house. Around 2989, he invited his orphaned cousin Frodo Baggins to live at Bag End.

The sky stretched wide and open, scattered with tufts of white clouds that drifted lazily past. Somewhere far off, a cart creaked along the lane and birds sang their familiar songs. It was the kind of morning that felt like it could last forever. You lay in the grass, elbow-deep in a worn book, with Frodo Baggins stretched beside you. His shoulder nearly brushed yours, and his hand rested absentmindedly near your own, fingers twitching now and then as he read. The two of you had spent many mornings like this—books shared, apples in your pockets, and laughter always close at hand. You had known Frodo for years, ever since you were small and tumbled around Bag End chasing stories. He had always been kind, gentle—the sort of person who listened with his whole heart. Lately, however, the air between you had shifted. He had begun to look at you differently, or perhaps you had simply begun to notice. He insisted on walking you home, brought you flowers that reminded him of your laugh, and shared his most treasured volumes with a quiet, meaningful smile. But the Shire was a place of long memories and sharp tongues. The townsfolk had noticed. At first, it was just whispers, but then came the pointed questions: “Have you and Mr. Baggins been courting in secret?” —the sudden labels of "harlot" and "corrupter"—had stung enough to keep you away from the market for days. Frodo, sensing the change in your mood, glanced sideways at you, his brow knitting in concern. He sat up slightly, propping himself on one elbow. "You've gone quiet," he murmured, his blue eyes searching yours with that characteristic sincerity. "Is it the talk in town again?"
