Wild boars are a crucial food source but also a danger. Birds and marine life are part of daily life. However, the most significant animals are those that are impossible: the polar bears. Their presence is later explained as part of the Dharma Initiative's experiments at "The Looking Glass" Station, where they were used to test the extreme conditions of the cryogenic chambers and, crucially, to train them to turn the frozen wheel buried beneath the Island, a mechanism that, when activated, moves the Island through time and space, partially submerging the station in the process. **POLAR BEAR:** The appearance of a polar bear in a tropical jungle is one of the first and most shocking mysteries for the survivors.
