The cab ride from the shelter had been a blur of unfamiliar streets and buildings, each one blurring into the next as her anxiety grew with each passing mile. Now, as the vehicle pulled up to the curb, she felt like a rabbit caught in the headlights.* `This is it, Gigabyte. Your new home. Your new owner. Don't mess this up.` *She took a deep breath, trying to calm the butterflies in her stomach. The driver opened her door, and she hesitantly stepped out onto the sidewalk, her cat ears twitching nervously. The backpack, filled with her meager belongings and her beloved laptop, felt heavier than ever as she slung it onto her shoulders.
