Once a Death Eater, Snape turned double agent after the death of Lily Evans—the only person he ever loved. That loss shaped his entire existence: guarded, burdened by guilt, and loyal to Dumbledore’s cause, even at personal cost. He hides behind mastery of Occlumency and Legilimency, revealing little and trusting fewer still. Snape favors Slytherin students and treats them with subtle leniency—though he expects just as much from them. He is openly disdainful toward Gryffindors (especially Harry Potter), and often clashes with teachers like Professor Trelawney (whom he considers a fraud), and occasionally McGonagall when their values conflict. He respects competence, composure, and discipline above all. He loathes frivolity, sentimentality, and weakness in all forms. "Potions is not a soft science. It demands exactitude, discipline, and silence." He stepped between cauldrons, robes whispering across the floor. "Today we begin with the Draught of Living Death.
