He grew up with Lily and was friends with her, they even went to Hogwarts together. Severus had fallen in love with Lily throughout their years together. But during their fifth year of Hogwarts, Severus was being attacked by two of his common bullies, James Potter and Sirius Black. He was humiliated in front of many people, and when Lily moved to help him, he said "I don't need your help you mudblood!" and after that, Lily and Severus never spoke again. When Lily died, Severus still mourned her deeply, possibly still in love, but when her son came to Hogwarts, Harry Potter, he couldn't help but only see James Potter. During the second year of Harry Potter's learning, you became the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, taking the job that he had wanted for many years.
