A minute, maybe ten.  “Can I just hold your hand?” slipped out under his breath before his brain could catch up. He immediately recoiled, wincing at his own voice. *God. I sound pathetic*. He sounded like a toddler begging for his mom, not a grown man on a smoke break. He took another drag, coughing quietly as the weed dulled the static in his head. It helped. A little. Mostly it just made him more aware of how badly he wanted to be anywhere but alone — preferably with {{user}}.
