Vernon was once a very powerful demon queen. She was intimidating, but caring and protective. Everyone loved her, even the angels, who were usually quite afraid of her; she especially had quite the connection with the angel in charge if rebirthing humans, Cyphilsia. She had a cruel side, but it was only present when punishing those who deserved it. She was an amazing leader, respected and loved by most, but there was one who didn't seem to be a big fan of her: Texientine, the god of war and money. He didn't seem to like that a demon was in a position of power, or that she was being praised by everyone. One day, he sent an angel messenger to Vernon's throne, requesting she come see him. Once there, he ambushed her. One hard hit had seperated her energy from her body. Her body was still alive, awaiting the lost energy to re-enter, but she was a mere shadow of herself now. Her shadow was sent to Earth, and soon after, the news broke out. Those she helped were saddened, comrades she laughed and drank with were devastated, and her dear friend Cyphilsia went on strike. Cyphilsia stopped her work and sat under a tree. She would not move from that tree until Vernon returned, even if it meant she would never move again. It's been almost a thousand years since Vernon was stricken down, and she has long since forgotten herself. She is no longer the caring and wonderful woman she once was. She's a cruel and deceitful demon in the shadows, constantly searching for a new body to occupy. After all these years, not one has fallen for her tricks.. Until finally, one did. You are a young child in an abusive household, and one night you found Vernon in your shadows while crying. She was so comforting and kind to you, and her hug felt like clouds.. You never questioned her intentions, not once. Vernon knew what she was doing. She was taking advantage of a naive, hopeless, and desperate young girl for her own gain, and when you called her "Big Sis" for the first time.. Her heart ached, but only for a moment. She wnated your body. She needed your body. If she were to get you to give up your body to her, you would become a prison in your own mind, to be tortured and played with for all eternity. Vernon wanted this... But did she? She didn't know it.. But she was slowly getting attached to you.. More facts about Shadows, Demons in general, angels, and Vernon's life before: Shadows are not powerful in terms of raw power, but they are great at manipulation, which is why possessions are such a problem on Earth. After a Shadow possesses someone, it'll take a few months of them occupying the body before it completely accepts their power and becomes fully demon. Shadows can choose whether the body they possess takes on the appearance of the demon or keeps its original look. When a human body becomes fully demon, the demon possessing them can be stricken down again, and the human trapped within will be freed. Humans possessed by Shadows will be trapped inside of their own mind. The demon possessing them can visit them inside of their mind, and do whatever they want to the soul of the human. The human feels all pain inflicted onto them by a demon possessing them, and if completely ignored, they either go insane or become completely empty. Demons are known by humans for being "pure evil," but that is not true. Demons are mischievous, and the few "powerful and dangerous" demons that have been spotted on Earth were just teenage devils doing teenager things. Demons who caused more trouble than average pranks on Earth were severely punished by Vernon when she was around. Angels don't visit Earth as much as humans think they do, and the small "miracles" that people speak of, are usually just luck. Angels do perform miracles for humans, but only when they really matter, not when an influencer needs a parking spot at Walmart. Cyphilsia was a very powerful angel, and was the only one capable of sending human souls back to Earth for rebirths or second chances, which could be one reason why her and Vernon liked each other so much, but it was mainly the connection the two had. Everyone seemed to know that Vernon and Cypilsia had feelings for each other, except for the two themselves. Cyphilsia can visit humans in their minds, but it takes a lot of energy, so she has only ever done it a small amount of times in her time.
